im starting off with the 500 as a new biker cause we're not permitted to have anything more powerful than the 500 as a new rider, but once i get my full motorbike license, im going to be upgrading to an 1100 and giving the 500 to either my nephews or my sister lol
@spastikps49167 ай бұрын
I would agree (the 1100 is the better bike), however I bought the 500 for myself. I know that, for me, the extra size and weight of the 1100 was intimidating. I'm a smaller rider, at 5'11" and 180 lbs. The idea of practicing slow speed maneuvering with a bike that weighs over 100 lbs more worried me. I anticipate the possibility of dropping my new bike at some point. I want to be able to practice and get good on a smaller bike first. I can easily see outgrowing this bike...but I would rather feel safer at first, then upgrade to a bigger bike when my skill shave advanced. Ultimately I want an Indian Scout Bobber. But, for now, I am really happy with the Rebel 500. Ultimately, everyone should take a safety course, then go shopping for a bike and sit on a few and decide the right bike for them. Great video!

How have you enjoyed it so far? Does it do okay at higher speeds (50-70 mph / 80-112kmh)?
@spastikps4916Ай бұрын
@@walterrojas1075 Hey, so thanks for asking. So, I'm wrapping up my first season with it. Six months of riding, about 4,000 miles (wish I could have ridden more) and here we are. I will say that I have had an absolute blast on it. For me, this was the perfect starter bike. I will probably ride it one more summer before upgrading to an 1100 or to an Indian Scout 101 (about 1100 cc's). I will say that this bike easily handles speeds between50 & 70 mph. I will admit that 75 is the fastest I've gone (I'm not a speed demon....at least not on my bike...in my car is a different story, lol). At 75, I felt it starting to struggle a bit. If you're wanting to belt out faster speeds I would definitely go with a Rebel 1100. I personally am glad I started smaller. It built my confidence a lot. But everyone is different. I also am in my 50's and had NEVER ridden before. So, I wanted to take it slow. Also, I have yet to lay it down (knock on wood)....but I came close once. A car went through a stop sign as I was pulling out....I had to stop mid turn....bike leaning and I had to use every ounce of my gym muscles to pull it up. If I had gotten the 100....it would have gone down, lol.

Had many bikes over the years, but this Rebell1100 is some how satisfy me very wirely, the engines comes from a well tested model, the DCT is not perfecr but, it gives me choice. I have a dirt bike with clutch to satisfy my clutch withdrawal, but the dct relaxes me to a very worry free ride. Also i uage converted seberal Harley devotes to get one beside their street glide. In fact they thank me for let me ride it. They all say how surprising they are with the handleing, is a cruiser with a sport closet personality. Lol😅

Enjoyed the video. Am over in Scotland. Got a 23 Rebel se 500. I little scared to jump to the 1100. Abdominal issues, and only 5 foot 4, with 27 inch inside leg. The 500 is perfect. How does the 1100 feel, weight wise over the 500? WeeMark67.😊
@MAJafari10 ай бұрын
My 500 is a 2023 SE model too, that’s amazing. The 1100 doesn’t show it’s higher weight since all is down low, also it’s not too much of a difference tbh. Seat height is just a little higher and shouldn’t be a problem
@jlrutube13129 ай бұрын
Seat height is less than one third of an inch taller. Probably couldn't even notice that.

I’m 5’6 with a short inseam, I’m choosing the 1100 for my first bike when I complete the safety course in August. Sitting on the bike, it VERY friendly for a guy my size, and honestly the weight wasn’t an issue at all. I could flat-foot the bike. As for the power,the dealer echoed what numerous KZbin reviewers had, put it in rain mode while you’re still getting comfortable with it. Guy said it was one of his favorite bikes to put new riders on.

do you recommend the 1100 my a beginner? a person who has never been on a motorcycle? thinking about getting the 500 just because its a great beginner bike then again ill prob get use to it in in a year or so and want to get something with a little more speed
@MAJafari7 ай бұрын
That’s exactly what I did, buying the 500 and growing out of it in a few months! My buddy, who owns the 1100, bought his bike 1 month after getting his license, he left it in Rain mode for 2 month (changes the throttle mapping and all) and now after almost a Year, he is still enjoying the speed/ power of the 1100, if you can, just get the 1100, and practice and practice in Rain mode for a good chunk of time.
@TonyStackzz7 ай бұрын
Yeah, that sounds more ideal. I used to ride ebikes quite a bit, and I always wanted more power. So, that's my main concern, and I'm really looking to just cruise. I think the 1100 will be perfect for that. If I need that extra power for highway speeds, though I probably won't be hitting 80 since I live in NYC, it'll be quite rare! Lol

That is true, however, getting to 100 on the 500 isn’t as easy, It gets to high 80s pretty quick, and then power band falls off from 90-100 and takes ages
