Yes m4 better than most PC today but speed is not everything it’s all about how you use your computer. What programs you have a lot of my programs which cannot be run on mac computer but I like the PC mini pc because it’s upgradeable

PC guy here who uses his pc for video editing. I've ran a few test using my wife's mini m4 base model against my pc AMD 5900x with an amd 7800xt gpu. My pc is twice as fast for rendering. Both are equally good for editing but render times are much slower than my pc. The mac mini is cool but I'd have spend $1500 and get the mini m4 pro to match my pc. The m4 mini is such a beast for the size, price, and efficiency. My wife uses hers for photography and she likes it. BTW, I used Davinci resolve and filmora 14 on both computers to compare

Yeah but it definitely used 10x the power of the Mac Mini. Not an Apple fan but I'll call a spade a spade, the M processsors are brilliant processors it's just a shame that Apple made them.

There was plenty of opportunity for Intel and AMD to make them but they thought they didn’t have to because they had the market cornered. When Windows is able to run on the architecture, PC’s will be dead.

@ I think you need a history lesson. Apple has always distinguished themselves from the “PC”. Apples version of a desktop or mobile computer is called a Macintosh. PC has always been associated with windows. PC vs Mac. You never heard of this debate? Now you know.

@@astro9219The problem is not Intel but rather Intel and AMD running into the same problem Android runs into, native ecosystem, Apple specifically tailored their hardware to their software and they then give the specs to third parties on Apple for ultimate compatibility, which is why Apple software runs better and longer with minimal power on these M-Series Chips. Intel and AMD is trying to create a chip for thousands of different PC's with thousands of different components, this leads to a handful of PC's running smoothly and still third party compatibility is lacking because of what they model their software to. This is why Apple M Series Chips may never be beaten unless Windows buys out Intel or AMD and create a proprietary chips series specifically to rival M Chips.

The M4 crushes the U9. It's a garbage chip. As a DIEHARD PC Masterrace, I am probably moving to Mac despite their crappy business model the M4 is a gamechanger at this point and no X86 PC will be able to compete, period. If I want to game or develop games, I have a desktop, if I want to be highly productive I have a Mac. It's become as simple as that.

@@hadeseye2297I wouldn't trust anything Windows during a music event, Macbooks are the most reliable when it comes to music gigs. Logic Pro is also second most used software in the music industry after Pro Tools which is also available on Macs. The same goes for image editing, it's smoother on Macs and more stable.

I bought a Mac because of performance and money wise it outperformed my gaming pc on the same price range (m3 MacBook air) now I purchased the M4 Mac mini to replace my workstation for the same reason. I learned that the ssd can be expanded by using a Thunderbolt ssd medium and with 16gb I still outperform my gaming pc on so many levels. Also my electric bill has dropped significantly because my PC consumed 550 watts during gaming and my Mac mini consumes 35 watts running the same games

@@sarjannarwan6896 As a software developer i see no point in that, even the best Linux distro on x86 hardware does not support HiDPI displays or lack scaling. I still use Windows and Linux but rather in a virtual machine. Even if you manage to find an ARM based distro that can run natively on the latest Macs you'll not be able to enjoy all its perks such as full GPU acceleration and lose device connectivity and functionality if you own multiple Apple devices. You'll be struggling each step while MacOS is Unix based and has everything working out of the box.

The point isn't whether or not mini pcs are better than a m4 mac mini, the mac is much more powerful, but I purchased a budget mini pc and put linux mint 22 on it and it runs great. Video editing or for youtubers? No way. But for average computers using email, web browsing, office suite, note/task manager, calendar, youtube or youtube tv, entertainment streaming, texting or whatever else, the $149 budget mini pc I got with 16gb of ram and a 512 hd works fantastic. Much snappier than I thought. I've had it for over a year and no hiccups whatsoever. No where near what a mac mini can do but then again I don't need it to.

I watched this video as I own a MAc mini M2 pro which is a disaster. Is not good for business. Maybe for video editing. To turn on video camera you have to restart the computer. There is no Cut and paste function as in the PC. Cannot increase icon size except for a very complicate prrocedure. Mouse pointer is not precise and too slow moving. ETC. Many reasons to drop off MAc and go back to the IBM PC structure. SO thank you for the presentation

M4 is frustratingly powerful but it has shockingly few use cases because Apple nerf it with MacOS. If Apple offered first party Linux support I'd buy the max spec M4 - but they won't so it's "big for nothing" to me. Not sure this is the best alternative though
