Each application opens with a different screen and refresh rate configuration. The device allows for different configurations because each application can have a particular use. By making the right configurations (which requires some time to learn), it is possible to correct 90% of the points that you did not like. This device is not like the others that come ready for the consumer to get the most out of it, but if you want to learn how to configure it and get the best out of it, it is an excellent device. With the right configuration, it has the same sharpness and comfort as my Kindle Paperwhite for reading books, with the advantages of the app such as being able to read comics, mangas, or PDFs. By the way, PDFs in the native application are excellent, with some very interesting features such as dividing the screen into several modes for different types of reading such as articles (two columns), comics (several frames), dividing the screen into several parts, etc. When I bought it, I was also disappointed at first, but after watching tutorials on KZbin and learning how to use it, I am really enjoying it.

Not being ready out of the box is a huge disadvantage, especially for many users. I’m a retired programmer and I quickly lost patience with the Boox. I just don’t have the tolerance to configure a device anymore.
@ccarr10252 ай бұрын
@@anotherbibliophilereadsit’s difficult, if not impossible to make a device that works out of the box for all Android apps that were not made for it. Boox gives people the tools to tailor each app to the eink screen. It’s a tinkerer’s tool though. It’s not exactly a great tool for someone who doesn’t want to fiddle at all most people should get a Kobo or Kindle.

Get no ghosting on mine, use the kindle app and the inbulit Neo reader, no Ghosting what so ever. All depends on how you set up the device, as there are many options that give more or less Ghosting. But I dont like the page turning option either. The inbuilt Neo reader is the best most power reader out there to date. More options and power than anything out there. Get no gohsting on kindle either

This was a great video. I have the Boox Palm and Boox Note Air 3C devices and was greatly considering getting the Kindle Color Soft device for some of the same reasons you’ve shown, but after I played around with the optimization settings for a while and looked at a few videos on the topic, I have fixed most ghosting problems on the Kindle app, as well as others like Marvel Unlimited, Zineo, etc. Now I do think that the books e-readers are great if you want to read outside of the Kindle digital world, but if you are looking only to stay within only the Amazon Kindle world, then the Kindle Scribe and Kindle Color Soft may be the better devices. They are also good devices because you don’t really have to optimize any settings like you do with the Boox devices (from what I’ve seen with past Kindles & the Kindle Scribe). They pretty much work straight forward out of the box & are easier to manage. The Boox e-readers are awesome devices too, but they have a bigger learning curve & some readers may prefer a simpler device.

My Kobo Libra 2 will do me for now. Unless you read a lot of magazines or comics on the e-reader, I am with MKV in that I don't think colour is necessary for just the text of a book. Nice review of this alternative e-reader so thank you.

I probably don’t need color either, but I would like to be somewhat on vanguard ereader technology. My Paperwhite and Scribe are smooth as silk.

Thank you for this video. I recently got the Kobo Sage thinking I could leave Kindle behind and use Amazon a little less. Overall, Kobo does a decent job although there are some books I can't get. But I'm not altogether satisfied with it.When I saw both the Kindle app and the Kobo app on your Boox device I was excited. Thanks to your review I'll know to give it a pass. I'd be bothered by a lot of the same things you were.

I will stick with my Kindle Paperwhite for now. I wouldn't mind buying a color e-reader however, I don't care for the muted colors of these new models. I'll hold off until they make an e-reader with vivid, clear colors. Thank you for providing us with a close look at these options.

I would be concerned that those page changes will grow slower over time, seeing as this is an Android device and they tend to bog down with use and as apps get updated.

Well Kindle and kobo also slow your system down as they all want you to buy a new one. Its common knowlege updates on anything are not only desighed to fix bugs, but get bigger with more features and take up more resoruces. Also as you add more books, as the memory becomes less this has a big impact on speed also and more memeory used the slower it becomes
@dennisrogers67863 ай бұрын
You clearly has a lot to learn yet. Get no ghosting on my book covers on my boox. Your clearly not optimizing your apps, and the boox can take time to learn its features. Love mine, not getting issues like you

Dont know what your doing, my page turning in the kindle app is miles faster than yours. You dont know how to use the Boox or optimze it. Takes a little time to get used to it and have to optimze every app your using.
