Very good presentation! Your experience can apply to the other brands of pickup trucks. I have a 2016 Ram 1500 with the Ranch Hand bumper. When I bought it from a dealer. I was offered the option to put on a bed liner coating. I work on the coast in San Francisco. Not exactly the salt belt. But the marine enviroment has not been friendly to my bumper. I am refurbishing my truck. And bed liner is going on both my front and rear aftermarket bumpers. I finally got my wife to accept the idea of a bumper upgrade on her 2018 Ram 2500 6.7L Cummins motor. She likes the HERD aluminum bumper. But will accept a Ranch Hand. Her bumper will have a bed liner coating when installed. After I had my Ranch Hand bumper installed. I noticed 2 things. The cows and deer move away from the road. And even the cops want me to go first at 4 way stops.

I have a 2020 F-150 with adaptive cruise. It gives me the option of just a warning flash and tone, or additionally the vehicle braking. When I first bought the vehicle I gave some thought to that and decided I would never have the vehicle braking for me in a collision alert. The flashing caution and warning tone is enough to get my attention.

I’ve worked in the collision business my whole life. I have always wondered about these ranch hand bumpers and the liability they can possibly take on when you put this in place of your factory bumper. One thing nobody talks about too is how they effect airbag timing. Don’t get me wrong I like these bumpers but in the litigious world we live in.. kinda scary.

I often wonder if all the crap on vehicles is mandated on the manufacturers by IIHS and other governing bodies, case and point, I live in northern Canada, the ice and snow cover the bumper sensors and i just get beeping and need to spray lock deicer on the sensors, you get what I'm telling you I'm sure. It's like power running boards, my truck had them on it when I bought it, I hate them as I know they are going to fail here in the cold north, it's what I call a California design, todays trucks are designed for warm climates, ever the most basic trucks have collision assist now, among other crap that just doesn't need to be on it. This crap is rammed down our throats if we want a nice new truck we got to accept it, if not, we keep fixing our old stuff. First off...we need to go back to when TRUCKS were TRUCKS...not prissy little wannabe trucks filled with touch-screens, parking assist, collision assist and misc foo-foo electronics. My old truck has 5 things: a sturdy bed that doesn't get dented when you put a chair in it or lean on it. a bulletproof V8 and trans' that you can work on without having a degree from MIT. a 4WD system that works when i get out and lock the hubs in place. a suspension that doesn't rely on electronics. and an interior void of buttons, switches and electronic gadgetry that distracts you from driving. I have 310,818 miles on my old Truck and i bet it will still be on the road when these 2010-2024 trucks are all sitting in junk yards...with that being said.. You made a good video with some good points. Thank you for that.
