The mini max in awesome. I can throw it on a medium fast baitcaster with no issues and it has a really fast startup which seems to be to do with the blade size. Also it has a solid variety of colors and sizes. If you want a cheaper option get the chatterbait mini.

I found a lot of confidence throwing jackhammers. My go to trailer is the Zman Razor Shad, even though they’re a massive pain to put on the hook. I also tried a Zako but didn’t like it as much because it doesn’t move as freely. I cannot stand glass rods so I was looking at the P5 Madbull. Ben at The Hookup said it’s his all time favorite casting rod and it’ll throw pretty much every moving bait
@kennethspenser62813 жыл бұрын
I have a P5 Madbull. AWESOME rod. Have it paired with a Metanium 150B. When the Jackhammers first came on the scene I went with the ZAKO's because they were designed as a jackhammer trailer. I was wondering why Matt and Tim moved to some new trailers. After seeing the video I can see why ! I thought my Christmas shopping was done :(

Kenneth, Isn't it amazing what a little underwater footage can do?! You think you know your bait and just a few seconds of actual viewing, your perception is permanently altered. We started comparing trailers underwater and now we have a lot of new favorites. 👍 Hunter, we actually haven't put much time on the Madbull, we need to give it some more water time. I've actually had more good days with the original chatterbait than the jackhammer. That said, I have the Crosseyez and a couple other styles. Sometimes it's just a little different vibration or speed that's needed that you can only get with one kind. And with everyone throwing jackhammers, sometimes switching to a different head design or heavier bladed (standard chatterbait) is all it takes to go from no bites to hammering them.

Man this last season i struggled with a bladed jig most of the season, even in the prime time for it. I had a bit of success with it early back in March here in Illinois around some cypress trees. Besides that it was dead. Now I’m not normally a spinnerbait guy but this year I had some real good days with a spinnerbait even on days where I shouldn’t of been getting bit on a spinnerbait. I’m talking dog days of summer mid July middle of the day. But my best days were in the early season and into late October, and I did most of my damage with a 5/16oz finesse war eagle with a combo Colorado and turtle shell blade, it came with a gold Colorado and silver turtle shell but in the fall I had some cloudy rainy day tournaments that I changed the silver turtle shell out for a gold so it would show up better and it paid off with a couple first place finishes and a 2nd place!!

I fish mostly from shore at my local lakes, and was unsuccessful in catching fish with a skirted chatterbait. I tried countless times....Then I watched a vid from another bass pro who said to remove the skirt from the chatterbait and put your fav trailer (Zman RazrShad) on, and I was starting to get bit. Now I gotta find a way to keep the fish on once I hook them...I probably need a more stout backboned rod.
@tacticalbassin3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like your local lake is a clear water fishery? If you're finding success with a shirtless chatterbait you'd probably find even more success by dropping down to an underspin swimbait.
@captnse3 жыл бұрын
@@tacticalbassin Thanks for the tip! Yes, I fish in fairly clear water....I have plenty of underspins...I’ll have to retry them again....I’ve been doing well this time of year on lipless (TN70’s) and 3/4 Oz blades (Binskys)...those are my fav to fish and cover lots of water further out from the shoreline....but they do pickup more grass in the lake, so I convert my treble hooks to double hooks to minimize weed hangups.

How do you need a crankbait rod and a spinnerbait rod to differ? My Dobyns champion xp 765 crankbait rod I just picked up says it can throw spinnerbaits, will it do it well enough that it can play double duty? Just asking because I trust you guys more than the rod company, thank you.
@tacticalbassin3 жыл бұрын
That soft tip section works great for both spinnerbaits and crankbaits. The difference is a spinnerbait eventually needs to get to back bone so you can firmly plant that jig hook... a crankbait needs to keep on flexing to absorb head shakes with trebles. I haven't thrown that particular model unfortunately but my gut would be to go to a shorter rod, that way even if it was a little light for the spinnerbait you could flex through the mid and reach the power section sooner for the spinnerbait. I hope that makes sense!

As much as I love the OG Chatterbait, I would have to say my favorite "bladed jig" is the Googan Squad Clickbait. Thing is loud with a nice thump to it and pretty responsive. But I could see that bein its own thing tho. Jus my opinion. Awesome video! 🤘🏻

Been catching them on a green gizzard mini max with a Berkley "The Deal" trailer. They won't eat the jackhammer but they will eat the mini max! BOOM! THE JUICE IS LOOSE!

And the down size mini max will use the 3.75, correct?
