I have 10ft rods & do find they’re like pokers My previous carping was 40 + years ago with lovely bendy fibreglass rods

My lad can chuck 22 wraps with his 12ft 2.75. His mate who is semi pro can chuck 28 from the same rod. So which 13ft aviator should we go for. He has been fishing for years, but hasn't really done any long rang practice other than casting for fish. So there is plenty room for improvement with the right tool and some practice in field.

Great videos!! With your view on the 12' 2.5s. Do you think there is a crossover in to the specialist/barbel rod 2.5lb world? Im trying cover all realms without having 15 rods hanging up in the garage. Thanks Mark.

I think 2.25 / 2.50 / 2.75 is a great cross over area (2.50 being the best IMO) that will cover Specialist (Barbel / Chub / Tench / Bream) and Carp type typical fishing styles. I use a 2.50 Harrison Dark Carbon for this cross over stuff. One rod that I can fish say feeders on the river one min and wack 2oz- 3oz carp rigs out the next, along with surface fishing and stalking. Very versatile Hope this helps

Mark, a very helpful video - additionally what is your view on 40mm vs 50mm rings on carp rods?
@marktunleytackletv Жыл бұрын
Both in reality cast very similar distances assuming a nice supply line, and braid particularly. It's personal choice really. I'm happy with 50mm as long as the rings are light weight like the minima TDG rings. Ceramic models can be weighty.

Good afternoon Mark what TC rod would yiu use for pva bag and stringer fishing ?
@marktunleytackletv3 ай бұрын
Sorry for the late reply Peter. That very much depend of other factors. How many oz of lead? Distance needed to cast? Size of bag? (I'll assume a large bag in my answers) Well, a 2oz lead and bag casting up say 70yds can be done fine with 2.75tc, but 3oz and bag to well over 100yds will need 3.50tc to do it. Sorry there is no exact answer to your question, because more info is needed. Hope this helps a bit. Cheers.
