We recently purchased our 2019 C7 Corvette from Carmax and wanted to share information about our buying experience. We were shocked to find an almost new 2019 C7 Corvette Grand Sport with a manual transmission available at Carmax.

Thank you sir!! You are an expert, I have been doing research on a 2019 Grand Sport Corvette in order to buy one. I am a big motorsports kind of guy and have been living in Daytona for 3 yrs because of my passions. Ferrari is my religion since 10 yrs old now 62. I got the Carmax app yesterday and created an account thanks your expertise. Great video!!!

Sweet GrandSport! When I was shopping around for a z06 a sales person tried talking me into getting a GrandSport. I love them but I wanted a z06! And also at the time the z06 and GrandSport had the same price tag used. So for 200 horsepower extra, it was a no brainer for me! I purchased a torch red 2016 z06 with red interor in late 2019 7k miles, 3LZ, dual roof package (transparent top and exposed carbonfiber), carbon ceramic brakes, carbon fiber interior, and body color vents which is unique but isn't everyone's cup of coffee all for $60k. She is fully loaded!! Just needed the competition seats which look nice but heard they are uncomfortable and also missing the z07 package which is a rough ride I heard. I bought it out of town from a chevy dealership. Now fast forward today 2021 a z06 exactly like mine it will go for over 70k easily. The value is going up on sports cars I'm guessing because of covid.

Wow nice car, I bought a corvette Z06 at carmax with only 4000 miles, very nice experience. Buying a corvette for 65K dollars I would have been tempted to buy a C-8 but I guess if you got the funds you can buy one later on. Even though I realize why you bought a 2019 model Grand sport, like you said, last model year, last of everything, collector car. (just keep it stock)

Good day; congratulations on your Grand Sport; just for information, if it’s a 2019, the color is Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic; once again congratulations !
@Fulloctanegarage3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Curious to why you would think it is Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic? You might be looking at an old order website site that does not show ADMIRAL BLUE as an option, I recall seeing one of those sites when I was researching but in fact ADMIRAL BLUE was a color option in 2019. My window sticker says it is ADMIRAL BLUE, I have to assume GM got it right :) The following website is one example that shows they made 299 GS coupes in paint code GTR, ADMIRAL BLUE and only 60 of those had red interior. www.corvetteblogger.com/2019/09/12/final-production-statistics-for-the-2019-corvette-model-year/ & www.corvsport.com/final-production-statistics-for-the-2019-corvette/
@thundrune15543 жыл бұрын
Has to do with when it was made. Remember 2019 was like a 2 year model run. Admiral and Elkhart don’t overlap as Elkhart replaced admiral later in the model run. Yours is admiral, which is like a midnight blue. Elkhart, like the one in my garage, is closer to the Malibu blue. Great cars!

Good morning, I purchased my 2019 C7 Grand Sport 2LT about 3 months ago with 16,702 miles. Like yours it seem to have a lot of 3LT options and I absolutely love the car. Also got a fantastic deal, only having to pay 60k for mine. This was an upgrade from a 2016 2SS Camaro, that I also loved, but made a huge error and put some hard Yokahama tires on it. One morning accelerated too hard, lost control and totaled my baby. This C7 came with new Continental Extremecontact Sport tires that are near as sticky as Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Won't make that mistake again. As I said, love the C7, but I am having an issue with the 7 speed manual that I wanted to ask about. Ever since I got the car, it has been popping out of 1st gear about 5% of the time (100+ times since I got it). Toke it to my local dealer twice ( the second time with the GM PI1276D Service Bulletin) addressing this issue, but because they said they could not reproduce the symptom, they refused to do the Service Bulletin fix. What I'm wondering is if you have experienced this same problem with your 2019 Grand Sport?
@Fulloctanegarage3 жыл бұрын
I have not had an issue popping out of gear but when it is cold out it is hard to get into each of the gears.
@millercycles3 жыл бұрын
My 2017 GS manual has popped out of first gear 2 or 3 times in 3 years of ownership , but I found it to be my own fault , for not fully seating the shifter . Just laziness I guess .

My Carmax experience is very mixed. I wanted to use my own bank for the loan because it had a low interest rate. It was extremely frustrating getting the right paperwork to Carmax. Carmax would say I needed one document, I would get that document from the bank then they would say I needed another. This went on for some time. Mainly because they had kids working the phones. I finally talked to a manager who resolved all the issues. That said, I happen to buy my 2017 Z06 3LZ at the right time. This was in March 2020 and the prices were down. They must have had trade ins from the C8s or something. Remember that COVID was just hitting the states between January to March. Carmax had my car for $57,000. It had 34,000 miles on it. That's ok because I drive my car every week and would have racked up miles anyway. Since then the price actually has gone up. I couldn't find a Z06 3LZ for less than $60,000 at any miles. The car had 2 cracked rims which Carmax replaced at no charge. That was $1,800 I saved in new rims. I am extremely happy with the car itself. It only had minor rock chips on the bumper. The bottom line is I don't know if I would use Carmax again.

You did get a smoking deal on your car, I bought at kind of the top but on the other hand I sold my 2014 at the top for $42k on a trade for a Porsche 911 a year ago so it kind of works out. That is awesome they replaced the cracked rims, I knew about the common issue so while it was at the GM dealer (who I know) I had them verify no issues with the rims because I know GM will not cover them. That is one items that still scares me though I have seen sources for black wheels at about $500 each.

No way you’re too tall. I saw a 6’10 guy get in that thing. The seats are awesome.
@Fulloctanegarage3 жыл бұрын
It all depends on how you like to position yourself in the car and how much of your height is torso vs leg. For me I like the seat all the way back and my torso must be longer than most because my head rubs on the back cross pillar. If I want to slide the seat up and crunch my legs up then I have heard room. The C8 coupe is just less comfortable for me. A convertible has 3 more inches of head room so that will be my eventual route.

Thoroughly enjoyed your video. We live outside of the US and purchased a 2019 Stingray from a dealership in Virginia and consequently had it shipped over. My question also revolves around the matter of , who owned it previously and any relevant data about the vehicle from new. Could this be a US privacy law issue ? as it would be great to make contact with the original owner? Any help would be very much appreciated.
@Fulloctanegarage Жыл бұрын
Might try looking it up on VinWiki or running the Vin on CarFax. Dealers typically will not share that info. there may be something in the literature with the car that may have their info on it. Dealers dont even like sharing the previous service history,

I would not buy a high performance car from Carmax if they are stupid enough to use regular gas. Boo on Carmax. The engine could be permanently damaged.
@Fulloctanegarage3 жыл бұрын
Highly doubtful the engine is damaged on regular gas for such a short period of time, modern computers compensate fairly well to protect the engine from damage. Most of the issue was caused by the faulty GM plug wires dropping off the coils. Future issues and damage is the reason I insisted Carmax have the GM dealer fully check it out before I accepted the car. This way they will stand by the warranty. There are many times in disasters like Hurricanes where people are forced to run low grade fuel for short periods of time with no issue. I also bought an extended warranty form GM so I am protected for the next 7 years if something is wrong.
