The clutch is stuck from lack of operation. It's possible to get it loose by engaging 2nd gear and rolling forward. If not it must be disassembled and cleaned

Thank you for this! I was messing with the clutch after I posted this video. I did ride the bike around a bit. It still seemed to have trouble going into first gear at a stop without stalling. I bought some transmission fluid and I’m thinking of replacing that which I hope will also help clean up the clutch discs if there’s any grime in there. But hopefully riding the bike more this spring will help loosen the plates. I’ll be posting the video of my first ride on December 17th. I have a different video scheduled to post next Tuesday (I do weekly uploads)

@@YappinNCruisinWhy transmission fluid? I believe they were designed to use plain motor oil in the gearbox. The clutch springs need replacing periodically because they lose tension due to being in compression constantly. The front brakes are called ‘double leading shoe’ and can be adjusted to be able to be as powerful as disc brakes, but slightly less fade resistant under race condition use.

That’s a good point. I did get standard motor oil. That is a lot of great information! Do you own a YR1 / have you ever owned one?

@@YappinNCruisin I never owned a YR-1, I started with reed valve RD350/400's. See if you can find an owner's manual, some of them from those early years warned riders to stay out of the middle of the lane where the demons live (debris and oil).
