Thanks a lot for this video. Very enlightening. Could you confirm if the lease option through salary package affects the loan amount you can get when you want to take mortgage for buying a house? If yes, could we say that is a downside? Also, at the end of the contract, does the car belong to you or you give it back to the notated lease company? I was a little confused there.

In terms of affecting borrowing, it's just the same as any other loan. It counts towards your liabilities. At the end of the contract, if you want to own the car you have to pay a balloon payment, which is usually a couple thousands depending on the car. If you don't have the money, you can return the car to the leasing company and walk away with no car. You can also decide to extend the loan period to avoid the balloon payment - for example, if your balloon payment is $10,000 at the end of 5 years, you can choose to continue the lease for another 2 - 3 years and that means you will clear that balloon payment and then own the car after that 2-3 years, with nothing owing to the lease company.
