As someone with a Swedish partner I know the UK life vs Swedish life and I absolutely know wholeheartedly that Swedish life is exponentially better. The food, the people, the air, water, lifestyle, scenery and of course government and government protections, free education, free school meals, childcare etc. But, like you, we are both living in the UK currently because of our jobs. We cannot wait to leave again though. You just don't realise how expensive UK life is and how little you get for your money until you live elsewhere.
@stellac884 Жыл бұрын
Amen. Been in the UK a decade but I lived in Sweden during the pandemic for a year and a half. All the things you listed. Spot on. I just hate snow and darkness (although the UK is also pretty dark in winter) so came back but been struggling with everything. I feel like my tax moneys go wasted. I sit on the higher band (40%) and I get nothing. Others get it. In Sweden they reward those who work. Here they reward those who make babies. The neighbourhoods are ugly. It’s ugly ugly ugly. Just houses and thrash especially here in Uxbridge. It’s been a year and I can’t bloody get over how ugly everything looks. Lots of misbehaved kids everywhere, parents at home using meth with my tax money. Houses that are crap. In Sweden they keep houses sooo well, always working on them. Here they just fall apart. They have ZERO insulation, lots of condensation and mould. Horrible. You get over charged for shitty houses in shitty locations for the mere pleasure of living in this country. Weather is just dull. I’d never buy a place here. I’m going to the Canary Islands first and Costa Rica next, after the war starts. I’m hoping the best days of my life are just ahead of me. Say hi to Sweden for me if you make it back there!

I think t depends where you live, my best friend lives in Sweden and she's a teacher in a terrrible area, she gets sworn and insulted on a regular basis, and craves the sun the whole winter when it is just dark!!!! I also don't understand if you hate something so much why do you stay, just leave, I have moved country several times!!

They are crying out for doctors in northern Sweden, great shortage. Just a tip! They usually have special Swedish courses for foreign doctors to quickly get them into working life. If you want to move to Sweden again. You have to think about the cat. She probably wants to move home...😎👍💥

Rental market is crazy, rents are astronomical. We brought a house, in the midlands, for £230,000 it’s small but we are on the ladder. No more bat crazy landlords. I can shut my front door and it’s ours, it needs a garden renovation. But has brand new bathroom and kitchen. Brand new electric’s. And boiler. And double glazing. And the garden is a good size. And parking on the drive for two cars. Semi detached. It’s cheaper than renting. I don’t know how people are going to cope with paying astronomical rents when they retire. It’s literally frightening. 👍♥️👍

We’ve just down sized, we looked round about 6 properties, but on rightmove here in the UK, you can do a visual walk around properties, and go around each room on your iPad, if I included all those apartments we looked at probably the number would be about 30. We absolutely knew what we were looking at, as at our age there were several things that were make or brake the deal.

Guys your approach and mentality towards everything in terms of life, living within your means, budgeting is excellent. Well done! It is not so usual for the younger generations. I have always done this to... but I am a kid of the1980s financial depression so learnt a lot from my parents back then. Zero budgeting, pots for everything and being more minimalistic has helped. I have passed on this financial awareness and teaching to my kids (now 10 and 18yrs old) who are both great with money and saving. I viewed 50 houses, looked at hundreds online over 5 yrs before buying my house in Germany. I'm British. I moved here to do my PhD and stayed.. rented the first 15yrs.. saved deposit then bought. You need a min of 25% value of the house as a deposit in Germany to buy, which makes it tough while renting to... we had to save 80K to get a modern town house...we bought and moved one month before my 2nd child was born. Congratulations on your final exams. I hope we see a graduation photo Naomi 😊. My niece is in 3rd yr medicine in the UK. Been watching you guys since you first moved to Sweden.. loved your Sweden vlogs, but happy we still get to see where life takes you both. Its lovely that its Jakes channel again after he withdrew for a time when you were in Sweden. Hope you vlog all your travels.. would love to see Mexico, USA etc. Ps Germany is DESPERATE for doctors.. could be a moving option for you for a few years later?
