In part 2 I add some fluids and get it started up. Had to get the hydraulic system purged of air and I split some wood. Works great! Part 1: • Buying a Superhandy 20...

7.5 second cycle time? Chinese time must be measured differently.

I have the exact model and its super fast, split two chords in 40 minutes, bought it from some gherkin in town who never even used it for $400. I love the thing.

The County Line and other big-box type splitters are all made in China or other overseas place. the rear of the cylinder is unsupported on your splitter, and that's a weakness; if a shard of wood is jammed underneath the pusher cylinder as it moves forward it will tend to bend the ram upwards. There's a reason why the County Line and others are not built this way. I'm very skeptical of the 20 ton rating...your cycle time is stated at 7 seconds, which is pretty fast (the video shows that obviously it's way slower than seconds though). A fast cycle time requires a large-flow hydraulic pump or a small cylinder diameter (or some combination of both). A high pushing power requires a high pressure pump or a large cylinder diameter, or both. Look how small that hydraulic pump is. That's not to say this will not meet your needs. If you have a large log, lift it up a little on the wedge end and it will go through the log. It's $939 on Amazon now.

I had no idea county line was overseas, they seem so well built and heavy. I suppose nothing surprises me anymore. The cylinder on this unit is poorly designed in every way. I have a few more splitting videos I haven't uploaded yet but after running it awhile the ram speed has really increased. It's pretty speedy now. Every few logs I get one that puts enough pressure on the ram sideways,it makes me nervous. I like to have the camera on because I want to catch the cyclinder/ram failure on camera for everyone to see. I'm just splitting for fun, I find it relaxing.

$939 wow!! A couple of years ago, I bought the County Line 25-ton splitter for $999 at Tractor Supply. The same model is now priced at $1,549 in my area. Inflation has hit every hard.

There ya go! I was thinking the same thing! I don't need to go very far with mine to split wood but it's more fun pulling it with something!

Your Control to Cylinder attachment has (2) hex Fittings. You Hold the upper with a Wrench while tightening the Lower to the cylinder. Thanks for the Video and information. For me at least, this is not the Splitter I would trust. I'm splitting Hardwood rounds up to 20"+ using a good running Huskee 22 ton and I just don't see this splitter lasting long attempting that. I can see why that Free floating ram could be a serious issue. I've been hit by internally loaded Rounds suddenly releasing and blasting off the splitter(and it Hurts!!!) That kind of side torque could easily bend an unsupported ram.

I couldn't agree more. There's red flags all over this unit. If it wasn't for the $575 price, I wouldn't have bought it. The normal price on these is $700-$900 and there's no way I'd pay that when a county line 25ton is $1300. In a way this is an experiment for me. Just to see how long it will last and how well it will do. Thanks for watching!

@@skywatcherranchswr To be honest and if I could afford it, this would make a nice Re-split unit sitting right by the house. I do a lot of larger splits, easily 2x needed size, to allow a little longer seasoning time. Once dry they are much easier to split again. People don't realize how fast some woods will Dry when split down to hand size. Black Walnut 16" large wedges can cure in about 6 months once the core wood is exposed.

The main problem I see is how low it sits. It makes you bend over too much while splitting. Maybe some taller tires would help?
@skywatcherranchswr9 ай бұрын
For sure! That's one of the things I didn't like about it, it's low and very small. I have since upgraded to a different splitter

How long to run it before adding the rest of the hydraulic fluid? The manual says that it takes 1.6 + 0.5 = 2.1 gallons of hydraulic fluid. Did you need to buy an additional fluid or your two gallons were enough? Thank you.

If you want a machine made here in the states you're going to have to pay up the nose, but considering that you're also getting the highest quality and the best warranty and world class customer service, I'm sure it's worth it.

Its not impossible…you have to make sacrifices and maybe not have all the toys you want…most people like to justify their spending habits on what they “need”. Then they domplain that there isnt an equivalent made in usa model…well, when you pay fair wages, use american steel, american rubber, japanese motors…first world country…i would rather not have something then to buy something im not proud of…countylines are crap…superhandy is crap…as i said before, id rather have less overall toys, but ones im proud of owning, that can be passed down and not thrown away… Everyone makes excuses as to why they end up in walmart and amazon doing their shopping and its why american manufacturing is on life support
