Hello Garret. I’m the owner of two perfectly healthy mice myself. I recommend that you buy them a wheel and perhaps get them a water bottle. You can apply the water bottle buy using industrial Velcro, and NEVER pick them up by the tail, it’s much better to scoop them with cupped hands. This is just a few recommendations, now some health advice. Do NOT EVER get them a pool, or bathe them, mice self groom and keep themselves clean, in fact, though mice are great swimmers, water stresses them quite a bit. Also I’d recommend getting them a plastic wheel. Oh a few more things DO NOT feed them dairy or cheese, it contains a ingredient that they cannot digest properly and it will probably kill them. I truly hope you enjoy your mice! They are gentle and amazing animals that really bring happiness to most people who own them.

A little advice for mouse care, from someone who's owned 5+ mice. Look into a bigger cage. Make sure they have enough space. They can start to feel too crowded and start fighting, which isn't fun. Also, a separate bowl for water, and a separate bowl for food. Look into buying a wheel for the mice babies!! Mice love exercise, and love to run. My mice used to squeak to me if I took their wheel out of their cage. Give them a bath once every two weeks, with just plain water. If you notice their feet getting crusty with poo or other things, wash them lightly with Oder free soap, and make sure to wash thoroughly! It could hurt them if they digest it, so make sure they take a nice long bath after, and are squeaky clean. (BEFORE YALL GO SHOVING YOUR CHILDREN INTO BOWLS OF WATER, SCROLL DOWN AND READ MY COMMENTS ON BATHS, PLEASE. DON'T DROWN YOUR MICE) Lastly, keep an eye on them. Some mice like to play fight, but dont know limitations. They might accidentally hurt themselves. If you notice them 'play-fighting' keep an eye on them, as it might turn violent very quickly. Trust me, one of my mice ripped off the tip of another's tail during 'play-fight', so be careful. And never pick them up by the tail. I've noticed a lot of store-employee's do that, but its actually very bad for them, as it can damage their tail. Have lots of fun with your new mouse babies! (Also, name options: Karen and Mocha)

It's actually very painful and stressful to carry mice and rats by their tails. Sadly, big companies like PetCo and PetSmart always mistreat their animals. Every dollar they make they care less and less for the animals. The only thing we could do about it is never buy an animal from there.

That bin he had them in while he was setting up the tank is more suitable then the tank he bought!😂 Mice need at least a 20 gallon long tank with an 8 inch wheel, a bunch of chew toys, and 3 inches of bedding. The best food you can feed a mouse is oxbow mouse and young rat food! Please do your research before getting ANY pet! I know this video is old but, I only saw one comment that said their tank is unsuitable. DO YOUR RESEARCH!!

This is only true for female mice. Male mice most likely will kill each other over dominant reasons. There are rare cases in which they get along but that's risking you mouse's life. Of course you could get them neutered and place them with female mice. It all comes down to you mouse's personality and capability of care you can give them.

Hello Garrett, I believe you need a few tips on mouse care, I am not a professional but I learn this from research and personal experience 1. Get a bigger tank 10 gallons are an ok starting tank but you should upgrade to a 20 or even a 40 gallon, it allows the mice to run around and have fun 2. Get more toys Adding toys allows them to chew and file down their teeth, adding toys also allows the mice to have alot of fun, mice don't live long so that's why we need to give them the best life while they still have it 3. Add more hides Mice are small animals who can get scared of loud sudden noises, adding more hides for them allows them to keep their instinct and hide 4. DO NOT GET PETS FROM PETCO/PETSMART I can't stress this enough, I got 4 mice from petco and they were not hand tamed, I tried to hand tame them, 1 bit me and 2 ended up getting a little hand tamed, pets from petco or petsmart come from animal mills 5. Don't grab them by the tail Grabbing a mouse by the tail is like grabbing a dog by the tail, it hurts, the correct way to pick them up is reaching your hand down so they walk on you or grabbing them by the BASE of the tail 6. Don't get 1 female I'm so happy you got 2 females, female mice are very active and need a friend, not a human but another mouse, so getting 2 or more females is best, as for males, males will fight with another male for territory, so leave male mice in their own tank, males are more like lap pets Those are the tips for you off the top of my head, I really hope this helps you raise your little mice yourself, have fun! @@tmfgames1339 maybe hind leg degeneration? i only know about rats, not mice, but its fairly common in aging boys. your vet may want you to strap him in the chair, but if he cant make it to his food/water and cant play at all you may want to consider PTS

also picking up a rat or mouse by the tail can cause an injury called degloving, where the whole skin slips off the bone. you should ONLY grab them by the BASE of their tail in extreme circumstances, like if they are escaping into a hole in the wall and you need to get them fast. middle or tip is very dangerous.

the mice need a bigger tank for sure, and access to water at all times, and they need a wheel to run on. lots of chew toys would be good for them too. rodents teeth never stop growing so they need to wear them down

A lot of people have mentioned getting a bigger tank, but if you DO decide to upgrade, it'd be better to get a cage than a tank. A tank doesn't filter out the gasses from the feces and urine as well as a wired cage does. Also, you can give mice human food as a treat sometimes, but make sure you look up what foods they are allergic to first. I've never owned mice, but I've owned rats, and rats love occasional pieces of cheerios, so I'd assume mice do too :)

some mouse pro tips from a mouse owner! you need to GET THEM A WATER BOTTLE with a metal guard so they dont chew through it and a WHEEL, so they can run around and get excercise. the silent spinner wheel is a great choice for a wheel. also good thing you bought both girls. they get along better than two males. also, you should name them drew and shane after your friends!!

You'll have to get them a bigger cage asap, and I don't know if they're both the same gender but (speaking for male mice) as they grow up one because the alpha mouse and becomes more dominant and they will start fighting a lot. I had 2 males in February of last year and once they got about 4 or 5 months old they would bite at eachothers balls.. eventually one killed the other and we had to bury him (rip) just giving you a heads up because even though they're little mice I still was upset. Oh and one more thing, they're going to need their on wheels to run on because that's how they get their excersise.. they need access to water at all times because they get dehydrated easily.. and I recommend getting them a lot of chew sticks, chew ropes, etc or their teeth can get overgrown. No mice have bad respiratory problems and a tank is actually the worse thing they could be in, I kept my first one in a 120 gallon tank

Tanks are only an issue with respiratory problems if the room itself is poorly ventilated, otherwise they're fine. You just need to provide other things for them to do lots on climbing on but ventilation isn't an issue most of the time

That bin you had them in is actually a better size than the tank. Three mice do better than two, and you need at least a 20 gallon for 2-3 mice. Or you could get a cage top for your tank. They need plenty of hides and climbing stuff. They get bored pretty easily. An 8-10 inch wheel is also needed. Mice love wheels. You don't have to even spend all that much on them. They love boxes and egg cartons. They need plenty of room to burrow, so 2-3 inches of bedding is good. Mice are such wonderful and fun pets. I hope you and your girls have a good time together!
