The SCI Peer Supporters continually emphasize not to do anything permanent regarding specialized equipment or home modifications, many things change during the recovery phase and what is needed today may not be needed or be appropriate next month or next year. I wonder if there is some law or regulation that limits competition and allows this to happen. I assume there are regulations making sure the wheel chair meets some standard. Is there some regulation that prevent or limits used medical equipment (crutches, medical beds, wheel chairs....) to be sold/rent or is it a lack of demand? Seems like this needs to be fixed.

If there is a wheelchair scam, I'll do ever you want me to, to expose any unethical behavior in the so called supply chain. Also if this is the case SCVMC need to get on board.

+nicks Yeah, I'd love to hear how other's experienced it. I am an idealist and I like bike shopping, which I expected this to be similar. Basically I expected to demo a few wheelchairs for a day or so and then would be guided through a decision... I would not mind paying for the demo, but I imagine insurance would not either as getting a better fitting chair would ultimately save them money in the long run...
