I went to Tractor Supply to pick up a salt lick for deer in my area, the person working there showed me the ‘deer’ salt area. They wanted $25 for a block of the white salt without minerals and $40 for the green mineral salt. I thought that was ridiculous. So I said where do you keep the salt for goats and cattle. The same salt without the pretty pictures of deer on it was $13. Believe me, the deer could care less how it is packaged.

No, it is grammatically incorrect for the ideal it is intended to convey. The intended ideal of the saying is to imply that one does not care at all. Saying "I COULD care less" clearly implies that one DOES, in fact, care to some degree. Where as saying "I COULDN'T care less" clearly staes that one DOES NOT care at all. Only one of those statements makes sense regarding an implicit statement between the lines.

I keep a 50 pound white salt block, a couple trophy rocks, and the black deer cain blocks out year round down in my creek bottom. The deer hit them all pretty much even. I’ve found the deer actually prefer eating the dirt that the blocks erode into rather than licking the actual blocks. I used this observation and started buying bags of rock salt instead of the blocks and pouring it on a cleaned off portion of ground and then using a garden rake I mix the rock salt into the dirt pretty good. I’ve done this now for a couple years and the location that I’ve done this on the deer have pawed and ate away at the dirt to the point that they have a hole in the ground big enough to park an atv in. So if you’re looking for the best option, in my experience it is the rock salt.

Like humans, deer like salt. Is your goal just want to attract deer or do you want to do something that is beneficial for deer? There is a difference between using minerals and just plain salt. If you do want to supplement the minerals deer get from food, you should put the minerals out in January when the does are pregnant and buck are recovering from the rut. By the end of August deer will be less likely to visit mineral sites. The does are finished nursing and the bucks antlers are finished growing. Also if what you are buying has a picture of a deer on the package, the price will be much higher even if it is plan salt. Funny how much stores stock minerals prior to hunting season rather than when it best for deer. I’ve had all kind of animals come to my mineral sites including birds. Need a camera to watch the camera. Nice experiment though.

I've kept livestock mineral blocks out for the deer here at the house for years. I don't hunt them and just keep it out there to help them out. Just noticed yesterday that they've wiped out the last one I put out. Something that surprised me is the number of birds that hit ground where the block sits, picking up the salt and minerals from the soil around it. All kinds of birds and I have many. Doves seem to hit it as hard or harder than many of the others do. I'm sure there's other animals that make use of it also. Not opposed to hunting in the least but I just don't do any anymore. But I do love having the critters around doing there thing and not as pets.

When setting up a trail camera you have 2 have 2 and one at normal and the other up 10-15 feet in the tree aiming to the first camera... A great way to do that is if you're camera has a thread at the bottom get a bolt that will fit it and get a hinge that is about 6" long and comes to a point because at the tip of the one side of the hinge you bolt on your camera and the other side of the hinge you secure it to a tree and the reason for all this is so now you can aim your camera any angle you want and to hold the angle that you need you can use wire or string... And having it that high no one can take it or may not no it there and you can find out who or what is happening... The effort is well worth it when someone is stealing from you...

We were using some granular deer salt that came in like a 15 lb bucket for $20, now I can make 4 licks for that price. The cool thing I have noticed, even more than a pile of corn, it holds the deer in one place. Trophy Rock hands down the Best the dear will lick them clear like an amber color....I put out 2 in the same area so the deer don't fight cause they will...when gone they will eat the dirt....even in Nov a buck will come by to sniff around
