For a Tibetan, it’s such a relief that this town has maintained its original character. Just watching this video transported me to back in time and history. Expressing my appreciation to the town and its people who’ve maintained it beautifully. Other than the unnecessary campaign wording in black chalk on the wall for some politician, and some necessary English and Nepali words on the sign boards, all else have been preserved the same as it must’ve been hundreds of years ago. Trust the town’s people will continue to maintain it. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Beautiful! People who have been traveling to Tibet say that there are places in Nepal which seem more 'Tibet' than places in Tibet itself. Tourists who have been traveling to Tibet frequently say that there has been a modernization drive in Tibet which has stripped the quaint old Tibetan villages, towns and cities of their Tibetan character and charm. Places in Nepal like Upper Mustang/Lo Manthang, Dolpo, Manang, Tsum Valley, Nar Phu and the places around the Manaslu circuit have a rich Tibetan heritage and culture. These places are considered cultural assets and so are protected zones(tourists need to get a permit to visit these places).

So beautiful place 1 day i wil love to visit but road conditions is really bad ...is there any flight facility is thr..?
@dawnchamling57102 жыл бұрын
@@Yanna.v9972 There is a flight from Pokhara to Jomsom and from Jomsom you have to go by vehicle(like how Ted has traveled). There's also a trekking trail but it takes several days hike to reach Lo Manthang from Jomsom. The roads have been built recently. Earlier there were only walking trails

My humble suggestion for people is to pronounce and write the name of the town in its original form which is Zom Soom or Zomsum. འཛོམས་གསུམ། which means a place where three meet (it could be roads, mountains, anything; the juncture where three meets). Otherwise, Jomsum has no meaning in their language.
@justinbiebersong58762 жыл бұрын
I think jomsom is mustang own language the we local people call it རྫོང་སར་པ
@Tsering_Gyu2 жыл бұрын
But I think jomsom means new jong. In fact it is Tibetan word ,jong stand for headquarters and Sampa is new in Tibetan word. Local people called jomsom as jongsampa.

@@Tsering_Gyu if that’s the case then it would be ལྗོངས་གསར་ Jong-sar
