I have one of these. It's really a great sounding amp. You can get all kind of sounds from it except maybe high gain (but I suppose you can still use pedals to get it). It also loves to be recorded. Just put an SM57 like you see on this video and you get a decent result. And don't forget that "30" in it's name not only shows it's power, but also it's weight! Damn it's heavy! :-)))
@cgavin14 жыл бұрын
Great tone and very much the same as the 2x12 with alnico blues. My ONLY gripe with this model is that the reverb can't get a wet as a Fender twin can. A £30 upgrade to the tank solves that issue.
@kodiakchazz15 жыл бұрын
I think one of the most over looked things to consider is how clean can you get out of the amp. With a great clean you can add the few, or many, effects in front or behind the amp to achieve many tones out there. Now keep in mind, that's not the only thing to a very good amp but it allows you to play clean to dirty. I look for many great features in an amp but I usually start with how sweet is the clean, then I can work in many directions from there. Even a beginner can start with a nice class A
@CuteKittyMeep14 жыл бұрын
I played one in the states (before discontinuation) that came w/ a neodymium Celestion that was like Fender clean tone, extended bass and treble. This one seems to have the middiness of the celestion VC30-ish speaker, or maybe it's the mic. Not that there's anything WRONG with that. Nice Jeff Beck moves, BTW... great demo!

@funkyjones The early AC30CC's used cheap GZ34 rectifiers which failed a lot, part of the problem was Vox instructions to allow the valves to warm up and then switch the standby switch on, this causes a massive surge through the GZ34 and eventually they fail prematurely, the solution is ignore the standby switch, the rectifier (GZ34) warms up slower than the rest of the valves and allows the ht to rise slowly. When you do this the reliability problems disappear.
@billpugh582 жыл бұрын
Correct! Apparently the standby was a legal requirement for the US market at the time?

I like my AC15cc1 but the speaker in it is a cheap one. I plan on getting a Celestion Alnico Blue for it next month. It should make a big improvement in the sound.

I'm going to upgrade my amp from my Marshall MG *gag*, and after almost a year, I've discovered that Vox makes some pretty decent sounding amps. However, I'm kind of stuck between a Vox AC30 CC1/CC2 and a Fender Blues Junior. I play stuff that goes from Stevie Ray Vaughan to George Thorogood to Iron Maiden, but I want something that handles bluesy rock/classic rock/hard rock tones pretty well .What do you suggest?

I have a vox ac30c2 and a mexican strat. (No i'm not spoiled, i've been saving since first communion.) I don't know, it just doesn't sound as I hoped it would - as like in this video. Any ideas why? Now, I know this is Mike Caswell, and he is on a Valley Arts guitar, but there is no chime out of my vox. Maybe it is my not so good guitar. Any replies will be much appreciated. Cheers, Matt.

This amp has been discontinued! A Vox AC15 or AC30 will work just as well for jazz as almost any Fender will. I love Fender amps but, Vox is hardly know for their high gain amps. The difference is really if you prefer a more chimey, Vox, or spanky, Fender, sound!
