Hi mate, just a few tips - i've kept chameleons of various species for over 24 years so I've got a pretty decent idea when it comes to setups. firstly you should have lined that wooden floor with a pond liner or something as it will 100% rot with the humidty required. Mist king is definitely the best mister you can buy. also the mesh itself will 100% leak crickets or whatever you're willing to feed it so be aware of that. your friend has a decent amount so i'm guessing he's advised on the proper care but if you need any info just give me a shout and i will help as best i can. BTW Panther chameleons are the best of all the species i've kept.

Paul, you should have put plastic liner on the floor before you added the soil. Over time some water and soil will drop through the cracks between the boards. unless you have a way access under the boards. Youre gonna have a smelly problem in about 6 months.

I thought that was weird too. He didn’t even really make a bottom to the enclosure frame, he just dumped the soil on the brand new deck. Personally I would have built a bottom and maybe even added some wheels so the enclosure can be moved if needed

ya i was wondering why he didn’t put a bottom/base to the enclosure, at first I thought it was a mistake and thought he was going to fix it, but i guess that’s how he wanted it, but for sure it’s a good idea for him to take the soil out and put a bottom to it, for the wood rotting part it depends if the soil is too wet then for sure the wood is going to rot but if it’s going to be dry then it’s not much of a problem but i see that you (Paul) are going to use a mister so most likely it’s going to be wet in there and rot the wood decking boards and putting a bottom to it helps so that you don’t need to unscrew the deck boards to clean the soil down underneath the deck boards. (Hope this helps)😊

Tips for the next one. People have already said a liner but you will also need a drainage layer on top. Next time use organic top soil and not potting soil, potting soil has fertilizers and stuff that isn’t safe. Same with the soil on your plants root balls. You should quarantine the plants and then wash the roots off before planting. You’re also going to want to mix things like reptile bark, sand, and charcoal in and add leaf litter and a clean up crew to keep that thing pretty clean. That is an amazing sized chameleon enclosure.
