I came across this video researching replacing my anchor and chain.. Funny fact, that sexy beast next to you is my boat (Harmony). I thought something familiar with this thumb nail. Bay Harbor was a good place to do boat work but those cottonwood seeds are something else. Cheers!

Hello 👋 Thanks much for watching and for leaving a comment!!! Wow that’s too kool!!! Love the name of your boat!! Is she still at Bay Harbor Marina?? It is a good place to do boat work and I have met alot of good people there too!! I haven’t been around when the Cottonwood seeds were a problem but I know what u mean… Yikes!! If you get a chance with Episode #26 Old Wooden Schooner in the Boneyard.. that boat Coaster II is at Bay Harbor Marina and it had an interesting history!!.. Hope you have a terrific day!!

@@ketchingmy2ndwindsvchopsticks She is over on the west side of Michigan now. I am taking her to FL. had her @ Chicago but ran into some issues. (Mississippi historic low water level, lock closure etc.) So I came back to MI. for winter. Just going to have her moved on a trailer. They are picking her up end of the month. The cotton wood seeds were in full effect when I was doing the epoxy & bottom paint work on the leeward side of the building. Billions of them floating in the air and falling out around the boats. I think I know the boat your talking about but I'll check it out. I'm friends with the people that have the sister ship to yours there in bay city and they told me about it.

@Scottsyearbook sounds like you have a good plan… Yikes!!! Trying to do some epoxy work with an about a million of those things floating in the air would be quite a challenge!!! a few weeks ago I went with a friend to visit a family member of theirs.. the family member owns a 1998 Hunter 376 and they keep it at the Garrison Bight Mooring field off Key West.. they said $400/ month.. just an fyi for you.. so you know Sean & Nita.. they a good people!!! Wish you fair winds and following sea’s 🌊 down in Florida and wherever your travels take u!!! I am planning to head that way myself sometime soon.. then Bahamas, Caribbean, etc….

You must have a big ass boat and anchor locker to hold 300’ of that size chain
@ketchingmy2ndwindsvchopsticks8 ай бұрын
Hello 👋 thanks so much for watching the video and for leaving a comment!! I have a 1982 Island Trader 38’ Ketch Rig… She displaces about 26,400 lbs.. I did some research & 300 feet seemed to be the magic number. I went with 3/8 instead of 5/16 for the increased the weight which would help more when at anchor.. a bit after I had bought the chain, I started to think about the extra weight and if it might push my bow down.. i’m pretty confident my chain locker will handle it, but just in case it doesn’t &/or it pushes the bow down too much I can always trim some of the chain off.

Holy shit, 12 hours. I live I think about three hours from there and never been. Great store though. Always cheaper than west marine.
