Just a suggestion: your blades will last a lot longer if you don't drag the logs through the dirt first. Even then I hose down the entry side of the cut with good pressure prior to the cut. Love our Woodland Mills 126. This company rocks with the best support out there. Adding a tach helps tremendously. Cutting at the peak hp at 3600 rpm saves blades, clutches and time and gives you a smoother cut. 👍😎👌

The docs checked for clots and didn’t find any. I’m still having the same symptoms a year later, they put me on blood pressure meds which helped but still didn’t fix the problem. I’m still haveing heart pain, numbness, bad headaches, I can’t sleep cause I hear my heart beating in my ears and sometimes it gets so bad it feels like my ear drums are gonna burst and bleed out, the arteries in my neck hurt from what feels like to much pressure or somthing. Awsome another video! Happy Birthday Darrel! 2,5k for that??, buying anything like that here would cost atleast 4k+tax+shipping (~tax for 4k would be 800 bucks!!), its crazy even the ads for this video are about buying a bandsaw mill haha. Mixing concrete on a trailer? I love it lol. Im glad you removed the bark, but id recommend to also wash the logs, iv bought a cheap pressure washer just for log washing, it really helps to keep the blade sharp for a long time. IMO it really does not matter, if its hardwood or softwood, aslong as the lumber is green, iv cut alot of green lumber on the mill and i really dont notice any difference between the different species of logs, but when i but a log that has been dead for years in the forest and all dried up, cutting that is hard, especially with a half dull blade. The mill is running great man. i wish you and your family all the best health and have a happy new year. Take care"! !

Thank you so much!! I’ve been watching your sawmill videos a lot and the pressure washer is a great idea! I think for the money it was a good buy and I’ll prob do some upgrades over time to it. If I felt better I would have built one but I like it so far. Check out the wipers on the wheels is just a peice of cable that wipes the saw dust off them and it works really good. Hello Darrel 😊 Hey I’m looking to buy a small portable sawmill, haha as you know I already own a sawmill, but I’m looking for a small mill to take out to a remote little property a few hours from my house, mainly going to be cutting some cedar and Doug Fir. I was thinking of possibly buying the 9.5HP, I heard you mention about possibly thinking the extra HP could be good. I was thinking of the same model as you. Are you still happy with yours? For the price I cannot justify my time and effort’s to build another DIY sawmill at this point of my life. I hope all is well 😊👍
@TheHomePros6221 Жыл бұрын
hey mike glad to hear from you!! in all honesty I think you will be disappointed with it compared to the mill that your used to, but if your just cutting a few logs here and there it mite be fine, if you do get it put a bigger motor or get the 9.5. at first I loved the mill but now I’m wishing I would have got a woodmizer or another brand, don’t get me wrong woodland mills have great support and all and they do make a good mill that’s cheap but I have a few issues that are making me want a better mill or do some fab work to improve this one because it’s slow, it wobbles (prob due to the bed angle iron not being straight) I think the clutch is weak also. the mill you have at your place is awesome and this mill doesn’t compare to yours however it will cut wood and you are a excellent fabricator so I think you could make it a much better mill by getting rid of the peiced frame and get like 20’ long peices of angle iron for the bed, install a bigger engine and maybe a bigger clutch or somthing else, my main two issues are the bed and I think the clutch is weak even though mine hasn’t really failed I also haven’t cut a ton of wood either. basically if I could do it over I think I’d spend a lil more money and get a woodmizer or a more professional brand. now others have had really good luck with their woodland mills saw like sawing with sandy but he has the bigger 136 saw. feel free to ask anything else I doubt I was much help though lol
@TheHomePros6221 Жыл бұрын
mike I wrote all that and didn’t read were you were cutting mostly cedar, my hm122 cuts cedar and pine like a breeze most of my issues are because I mainly cut hickory and oak. I think if that’s what your mainly cutting is cedar then this mill will prob work fine for u
@Mikefestiva Жыл бұрын
@@TheHomePros6221 I really appreciate your reply 👍 I completely hear you about all the topics you mentioned here. I definitely would get the bigger engine if I order one. I also see the small track frame being a weak point. I was just looking for a simple small mill to load onto my car trailer with my tractor and mill some small logs, mainly soft woods. I do have my home made mill and man I was cutting a lot of cedar this last weekend, it definitely cuts good. My friend and I went in half and half on a semi industrial sawmill late last summer, ( Used and needing a lot of work) It has all hydraulic controls, I think it’s called a Timber Wolf? 25HP 2 Cylinder Kohler, with a 6.5HP for some of the bed hydraulics. It’s a monster but again we are re working the machine quite a bit because the company did some really bad engineering when designing it. A lot of the hydraulic motor speeds are really strange, travel was way to fast, the head lifting controls were really slow. Re geared and changed a lot to make it better. The big mill is at my friends place, he has a better spot for it and has a few forklifts to help load logs. I think that mill should be ready to cut logs early spring. Back to the Woodland mill, I will look around more for other small mills on the market but I honestly I’m only planning on owning it for a year or two, finish up some milling projects out at a really remote place and then probably sell it. The place I will take it to is an hour drive to the nearest small town and the town doesn’t have a lumber store so hence the small mill. Take care and I appreciate your feedback about your mill. 😊👍
@TheHomePros6221 Жыл бұрын
hey mike since your putting it on a car trailer and the bed being straight u should be fine and probably pretty happy with it also if your mainly cutting cedar and have the 9.5 hp I’m actually thinking it mite be a good choice for u and u can prob sell it for close to what u paid when ur done, there also mite be a wait I’m not sure but I think I waited 2 months to get mine but that’s when lumber prices were crazy. is it a timber king? I never herd of a timber wolf, if it’s a timber king then those are supposed to be really good high production mills!! and really expensive to! don’t let what I said shy u away from woodland mills it’s a beginner mill but it’s a decent mill for the price.

I own a woodlander 130 max and ran a woodmizer lt40 for 25 years. Just a word of caution. I saw you put dish washer soap in the water blade fluid container. Don't get caught downwind of the spray or your eyes are going to be sorry. Plain water is best. Don't need to run it all the time.Just keep an eye on the blade for buildup. Geez you are going to just plop that slab down, no gravel pad, or ledge under it? AnD you are hand mixing the concrete? Why? Dont they rent mixers ? I once mixed 8 yards with a mixer over a weeks time. It was a floor in a cellar to which there was no truck access. To use a pumper was too much $$. I did it in sections . The farther I got from the bulkhead and mixer, the less concrete I used. Ledge was underneath the cellar. I scrounged up alot of baseball sized rocks, wet them, put them in my section form and then put the concrete to it. I have a 22 by 6 foot slab under my mill about 5- 6 inches thick on ledge. We have no shortage of ledge in Maine. No shortage of rocks . The rocks i used came from plowed land when the lot was a farm. They had handpicked them and tossed them in a pile, which was handy for me. I wish I had those steel beams. they have many uses.This quite a how to video. Do you think the 9.5 hp is better? My old mill was a 13Hp Honda. It was fine.It makes a huge difference to have something solid under the mill. If you extend the track...
@TheHomePros62212 жыл бұрын
When I poured the slab I put a bunch of rocks in it, what is ledge? Never heard of it before. I have since made many improvements to the slab and built a roof over the whole saw mill. I like this mill but I kinda wish I would have spent a tad bit more money and bought a woodmizer and track extensions. The 7hp is fine but the bigger the better of course, thanks for watching
@kennkid99122 жыл бұрын
U@@TheHomePros6221 never heard of ledge? You are a lucky guy. Ledge is where the backbone of mother earth is close to the surface. In Maine the glaciers scraped most of the soil off and the ledge, usually granite is just below a few inches of dirt that has accumulated since. The outwash of the glaciers is Cape Cod, Marthas Vineyard and Nantucket .My place has thin soil most places. I put my barn and garages ,and mill on the ledge. it makes a solid base for concrete.It may also be prone to Radon. That is a problem.. Yes a Wood Mizer is a good saw but they are more than twice as expensive. I think the 7.5 Hp might be underpowered. My 13 HP Honda was ok. I think the upgrade on that was a 20 HP. My mill was a Thomas and in theory you could mill a 16 foot log as standard. In reality heavy logs were a problem. Handling them was not easy. Long logs were a pain. I think a 12 foot was doable.You usually put a slab on a gravel pad so you dont get heaving from frost. Good drainage is the key. On ledge is no problem with that. Scrap metal like chicken wire is not rebar. Its too thin and rots away quickly.. Like most people you are on a budget and u are lucky to have that little excavator. it cant do everything but it is handy. I used a tractor and bucket forks, Good luck. We dont have Hickory here.
@TheHomePros62212 жыл бұрын
@@kennkid9912 oh I see.. yes we don’t have ledge here I’m in Alabama we have clay and rocky soil and don’t have to worry about frost as we don’t get any snow here. That Thomas mill sounds pretty cool! Thanks for all the info my friend!
