I have a 2000 Mule 2510. Bought it new. I also have issues with the radiator fan switches. I also don't want to spend $120 per switch, so I just pulled the wires off the switch and connected them and then put a toggle switch for each fan. When I start the engine, I turn on the toggle switch for the front radiator fan. If it's really hot outside, upper 80's or 90's, I also turn on the toggle switch for the radiator fan under the seat. A little pain in the rear but saved $240! Just remember to turn them off when you shut off the engine as the circuit is always powered, so the fans will run even with the key off. I also had to do the head gasket a year ago. Other than replacing the drive belt a few times, it's been a very good unit.

Yeah those fan switches are very expensive! I like your idea of putting them on a switch. Maybe even put them on relay that only allows them to be powered while the key is on, but still on a switch. That would at least keep it from running the battery down if you forgot to turn the fan switch off.

Nick, did you get a chance to change the head gasket yet? I think this purchase was good only because of two factors: the parts vehicle was included and your skills at repairing things. The good thing is the use you are getting with this vehicle.

Hey Jeff, unfortunately I have not had a chance to get the head gasket changed. I think I will leave that to a winter project. The machines runs great every single day despite the head gasket issue. We get A LOT of use out of the machine, so I agree that that is a huge positive outcome. I will eventually get the machine 100%!

Good informational video for those purchasing older equipment or vehicles and 2 words that should remain in the back of everyone's mind while purchasing said equipment ... BUYER BEWARE . I believe you overpaid a bit but with your mechanical background it becomes a salvageable situation that will get you to where you want to go with this machine after the proper repairs are applied ... adios til next time .

Agreed! As with most of the used purchases I make, I tend to rush into buying things because I get excited. This purchase included! Luckily I have been able to use the Mule for months without issue and it has made my, and the company’s life much easier!

The parts machine may have made it worth it, without that id say you got taken for a ride.

Nice tutorial on the machine….let’s just say, if you didn’t possess your diesel skill set - that may not have been such a good deal….with the other machine for parts - this will work. You have apparently gotten a great deal of use out of it so far.

I agree! If I wasn't mechanically inclined, this probably would have been a large headache. The parts machine has been a saving grace for me. Being able to have a stock of parts has been a huge help. Thanks for watching!

I am holding on to the parts machine unfortunately. I have stripped so many parts off of the parts machine to keep my primary Mule going. It is definitely a great thing to have around for when you need some extra parts.

Of course! Keep an eye out on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist. I occasionally see people near me listing parts machines for sale for a good price. It is invaluable to have a parts machine around to be able to steal parts off of. Good luck!
