I don’t understand, This is the awesome beginnings of throttl. These builds to me are better transformation than seeing an already nice car being transformed. We need more junkers like this back in the shop. As for the engine swap, I think rb26 would be a better bet! Hope you guys do a video on that 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner! I would say either rebuild the twin turbo motor or do an rb26 swap. As for body kits definitely look into twin z, they have a really nice body kit and a beautiful wide body for it as well. I have a project 300zx I’m working on so I’m excited to see this build and what you guys do with it.

working on Z32 VG30DETT engine is an absolute NIGHTMARE. Built one back in early 2000's and it was a learning experience to say the least. RB26 swap all day long in this.

I'd love to see a vg30 rebuild with a single turbo and a more track inspired build. Body kits on the z32s can get out of hand quick, maybe swap to the turbo bumper and some aero bits. Super excited to see this one, I've wanted a z31 for a long time but the z32s are super cool!

I have a 300zx and there isn't a massive amount of info on KZbin about them or options for parts. A full restoration with modifications would be an awesome example to the 300zx community of what you can do and where to buy products from.

I fifth this. These can be insane engines got mine to 600hp stock engine rebuild, just better top feed injectors (98 fuel - Australia) and gtx2860rs turbos. I’ve made mine the easiest to work on too. Stock engine if taken care of normally can support 500 crank hp for ages and this is stock not upgraded internally in anyway. Imagine e85 with this as well. I mean beast of a car, still holds that land speed record. Try get the blob supra to do that 😂.

I own two 300zx both VG30DETT 5 spd one is a 2+2 tt conversion. So, I would absolutely love to see you guys build the VG. They honestly don't get enough love in the car scene. They are so capable and sound amazing. No one has any good build content on the VG really.

p.s. im 5 years deep on my personal z32, full engine bay shave, rear quarter panel chopped and swapped (old quarter had been hit twice in past and previous owner just filled dents with body filler. no bueno) also NA to TT swap and every single suspension bolt on you could have, fully rebuilt motor with forged parts to handle the bigger turbos. car is gonna be an animal! just been on back burner to get customers cars out priority, keep cash coming in to buy more mods for mine lol.

This is definitely exciting for the channel . And I'm loving the comment section so far. As far as the body goes , factory aero is the only option . Engine wise I think an RB25 Neo would be amazing . Hit up the boys over at Wiring Specialties and they will sort out a complete engine / chassis harness for you with the ECU of your choice and make this car plug and play .

I’ve also had my hand in this platform and idk your budget on the project but I’d 100% do a twinz body kit, 2j, milspec harness, pedal box, lighten up as much as possible, Akibono brake kit, nice wheels with some dish and most importantly a steering angle kit lol ABS delete with smoothing the engine bay. I’m telling you it would be nice, the NA drivetrain can definitely keep up. I’m following this build closer than most now haha

I'd put an SR20DET with a modern ECU, and do really good brake and suspension upgrades to make an affordable track car. Then I'd take the team and see how everyone improves track times. Kinda gives you a different style which makes the people that work there more relatable seeing them improve.

Nowadays, the Z32s are extremely hard to find not totally clapped out. You actually found a pretty good starter...not perfect, but pretty good. Looking forward to the transformation... beyond what the factory had to offer (ie:VG30DETT). Having done an RB26DETT swap into a Z32... no regrets! and keeps a very particular degree of respect and heritage to the Z series cars. Have fun. Staying tuned

First you picked the wrong 300zx chasis a 2+2 instead of 2+0. Parts are hard to get for the interior. Leaving that behind I would go with a 1jz or 2jz. Hopefully this build doesn’t take like a year to be done but you guys have the media to complete it. I’m really excited to see what you guys do based on the challenge. 👍🏼

In short the car needs to be running first. That will be a very major challenge, and so focus on that. Once thats done Put it through its paces. . Day in day out. Then, door locks, trunk lock And fix other things as you go along

A Z32 300zx 2+0 was my first car, it was a 1994 NA with 169k when I got it, this car is what sparked my love for cars, and I would love to own one again I honestly wouldn't care about if it ran or what shape it was in... no rust and a roller is all I'd need

Definitely a wide body with front carbon fiber fenders and hood... some coils with some 18's stretch tires and deep dish... and a dobe ass wing with some carbon fiber seats and Alcantara leather red and black interior... and a custom sports steering wheel. It's going to be an awesome build!

Drop in a VQ37VHR and supercharge it. 6 speed. Maybe AWD? Do a Vis Racing Viper kit on the front and sides and a Vis Racing Tracer rear bumper. Carbon Fiber hood of course. And something like a Kansei Tandem wheels package. Paint her up in a super bright silver with lots of flake and mild pearlescent top coat. Keep the interior clean and basic.

The 300zx is one of my dream cars. And as for my opinion, I want it to be as clean as possible. Stock engine, oem kits and accessiories, 0 gap height, clean wheels, proper exhaust, etc. In short, if I were to build it, I wanted it to be as clean and period correct as possible.

I would love to see a sr20 swap with a fat turbo. Throwing a veilside wide body kit,a quick release steering wheel, a short throw shifter, air suspension, some 370z big brakes and a chassis mount big wing. The sr20 will give you guys a lot of wiggle room in the engine bay making it easier in my opinion.

VR38DETT engine would be interesting. Worked for Nissan for 20 years, Rickie is 1000% correct. A complete nightmare to work on, second only to the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4. All parts for the Z32 are hard to come by as well. Thanks to Renault buying Nissan and a change in the parts supply policies. I’m a z31 owner and if you want to do something different… I say swap a VG33. You’ll be going to SOHC, but they boost great and they’re suuuper cheap. Trans you have mates right up. Give you a lot more space in the engine bay. If not, I say VQ or LS 😁

Some of the stuff you’ll need will be somewhat hard to find. I tore my car down to the shell and built it back up. There are companies like Merlin Machining, polar engineering, and BDE that will have lots of the power train and guys that have lots of Body parts laying around. TwinZ also makes some sick body kits for this platform.
