Looking to start lessons and scratch a long held itch to learn the guitar, this is a brilliant explanation and aimed at the total beginner like myself. Great content with basic language, no jargon and no sales pitch. The presenter sounds like a true lover of the instrument, and not a salesman. Top stuff 👌

I'm speechless. I have always liked electric but watching this was so damn interesting I'm going to buy an acoustic and relearn everything on that
@teleguy5699 Жыл бұрын
People say you should learn on an acoustic first, ( which I didn't) but I was afraid of the care it took for my goofy climate here in Maine. Settling finally with the Taylor 214ce. It's supposed to be a nice acoustic within my price range and it's a lefty which are almost impossible to find with different manufacturers. You hear me Yamaha? I was looking into them until I found they had just 4 lame options. Martin had the 000 series, but months to deliver and no returns if I don't like it.

When I bought my first acoustic the sales guy said to get one with good action. Meaning how high the strings are off the fretboard. If the setup is bad it can be hard to learn on and get discouraged and stop playing. Also not knowing how to play can intimidate some people when buying their first acoustic. Ask the salespeople what they would buy and ask them to play the guitar so you could hear how it sounds. 26 years playing myself and I thought the $500-700 Martins sounded awesome and play so smooth. My friend has a $1200 Taylor and my hand was cramping after a minute of playing it. So the $$ does not always mean much. And to those who want to pick up a guitar. It is possible to play anything you want. Just keep playing. Rip off all you can and then make it your own..

I wouldn't ask a salesman....they all have their biases....pick a customer in the store who plays well and get him/her to demo for you.

I had the means for a Gibson J45 as my first acoustic guitar. But given that it's a Gibson, I worry too much about carrying it around my house. In the first week I had it, I slightly knicked the edge twice. It's a good thing it came with a case. I'm wanting to downsize though. Considering an Epiphone, since they are Gibson's lower tier, but might look at Fender and Yamaha as well. Definetly want one with Electric Playback to connect to Rocksmith.
@dietersdawgs2 жыл бұрын
you will get knicks in any guitar if you bump it into something. The name on the headstock doesn't mean a thing, especially if it's sitting in a case a guitar is meant to be played.
@timclaus83132 жыл бұрын
Breedlove and Seagull both make very good guitars at multiple price points. Most important points are whether the neck is easy to play for your hands, and body size is comfortable for your build. If either is uncomfortable, you will not want to play enough.

I know this is a month late but I hope you did it! Screw what people think. I’m a few years older and picked up guitar this past winter. It has been an awesome journey and feels so satisfying learning something I always thought about doing. The people that will talk negative about something like that are often the people who are scared to start something new themselves. Most people I’ve encountered are thrilled to share there passion with you and help you out.

If I have a steel string acoustic guitar, could I switch only the strings to nylon, still using the same guitar? The bridge seemed to be different for the two styles of guitar in the video.
@junchristophergutierrez21482 жыл бұрын
No. You can't. If the guitar has already steel strings, it should stay with steel strings and if the guitar has already nylon strings, it should stay with nylon strings. Because it could damage your guitar due to the different pressure of the string. Hence why we have a classical guitar (Nylon string guitar) and an acoustic guitar (Steel-string guitar)
@DanyCervantes2 жыл бұрын
@@junchristophergutierrez2148 I found out from several sources that you can switch to nylon if you have a steel string guitar, but you cannot switch from a nylon string guitar to steel strings. If the guitar was designed for nylon strings the tension placed on it by the steel strings would damage the nylon string guitar.
@dietersdawgs2 жыл бұрын
