I have a Nikon and I love it but I wish I studied more about the differences between Canon, Nikon, Sony. Everyone is telling me to switch Sony, haha. One minor thing I don't love about Nikon is their mobile app which I used in my latest video-it's just so laggy compared to Canon's and really makes self-portraits hard!
@katlis4 жыл бұрын
Like you said, ALWAYS buy used, especially lenses (from a seller that accepts returns). MPB is amazing for used gear. But after a few months if you turn around and sell the gear on eBay, you can usually break even. Any money lost can be chalked up to an imaginary very small rental fee.
@Michaeltje2.04 жыл бұрын
@@abbyjoystudio don't stare blind on sony. Nikon is a great company too and has some awesome glass too. Now Nikon is somewhat behind the others at the moment.. but be patient. Nikon will eventually make a comeback and will be innovating great stuff. Check out brandon woelfels channel he shoots on Nikon, i bet it didnt make any difference if he shot it on a Sony lol.

When I bought my Fuji camera I decided to go with the kit lens. I don't regret it because I wasn't ready to use prime lenses and a zoom lens is more familiar to me. Once I got more used to my camera I bought a cheaper prime lens by Meike for practice. I have not bought a higher quality lens yet, but since I'm not a photographer (I mainly shoot on my travels) I think it's not bad for a beginner with zero experience!

Totally agree with the fancy lens+okay camera setup. I started with an entry level camera body but I even got hired for a few jobs with this setup lol. It also helped me to understand what I’m looking for in a camera body and to be creative squeezing everything bit of performance out of my camera. Great video!

I've been collecting camera gear since 2010. I now have 3 dslr's and 2 mirrorless. My second mirrorless is a $1700 camera that I got used for $850 and works just as good as new. Mostly take pics for reference material to draw and paint but want the best quality for fine details. I always go for the quality glass and have never regretted it. I've even taken over 30,000 pics through the windshield of the truck I drive. Mostly aim and click and hope for the best. Get a bunch of blurry, crooked and pics focused on bug splatters, but most come out great. Use those for watercolors.

I have a manfrotto pixi mini tripod, I have a monopod, I have a boya microphone and a lavelier mic too. I bought everything through the year of 2019 to 2020. And I use every single thing and I am learning a lot about my camera

Something I’ll disagree on is the kit lens part, it depends on the camera you buy, more importantly the company, as an example I’ll use on system, the 12-45 kit lens is one of the best lenses for the camera but on a canon the typical 18-55( idk don’t remember ) isn’t the greatest, the body is plastic , ( which is kinda every lens for canon and many brands lol) and bassicly it is not a super lens 3:13 , wroooong the camera body is extremely important for depth of field m43 has bassicly in no depth of field

I've bought my first DSLR Canon 5D mark ii used. I upgraded to a Canon 5D mark iii (that I also bought used). I recently bought a Canon Rebel T7 used from a pawnshop. Both the two lenses I use I bought used. I have never had a problem with used camera or used lenses. I've bought from various retailers online for my used gear in my kit. Both my Canon 5D mark ii and iii I bought used from a friend that works as a cameraman operator.

I got a kit lens with my Canon 6D and it is a great lens EF 24-105 L Zoom. It's a really nice walk around lens. I generally agree with your advice but it really depends on what comes with the kit if it's a Canon EF L series Lens or RF series it's generally an excellent lens. That being said I did purchase my 7d MK II without a lens but I already had EF L lenses I use.

As a starting point for beginners the kit lens is perfect. And if you're a bit advanced and work carefully, it will always allow prints up to 20x30cm in really good quality. OK, there's one downside: If you want/need a narrow depth of field, go for a faster lens.

This was a very informative video. I have personally been looking to upgrade my camera gear, because i assumed i needed newer gear in order to produce better images. My starter camera is a canon Eos 350D from 2005, and using the kit lense of 18-55 with 3.5-6.6 aperture, it has fallen short to produce the type of images i wanted. I really wanted the portraits with the blur in the background. and now I know it is not the body of the camera that is preventing it, but the lens. So might invest in a better lens before making the commitment to a whole new camera setup,
