So far, this was BY FAR the most helpful info I have found about getting into a CNC business. I own 2 different type of “laser only” machines (a little over a year old for them now) and they are solid…I made my own High School Sports Awards trophies with the player’s picture lasered on the award…imagine a 3D pic of those players on that award! So…On to my next step in designing those with this info! Great info and thanks for the 15 minutes that saved me hours of research.

What do you need for combustion ? Fuel, air & a spark that is why flour mills have earth straps connected to any metal walkways. This allso applies to woodworking workshops , many a workshop has exploded when a lot of dust was floating in the air & static electricity was the igniter. Workshop hygiene is super important you truly need to fit a shop vac system to your cnc machine if you extensively machine wood based materials . Rodney Duncan from New Zealand

Best honest review ever. No I don't own a machine, I don't know anything about cnc. I dremel hand carve all my stuff, which I enjoy but like u said the ti,e that goes into it can be a big set back and then there are ppl doing the same thing for way cheaper. I think biggest reason I would like to give this a try is just bc I want to know how to operate such a machine.

Lol. Your not kidding about space. I built an Openbuilds WorkBee 40”x60”, with a 2.2kw liquid cooled spindle, NEMA24 HD steppers and full lead screw drive system. The spindle is much quieter than a standard router but the bits still scream when passing through wood. My work table for this machine is a full 4’6” by 5’4”. It’s a space hog. I run Vetric VCARVE software and it is easy to use (after a slight learning curve). All in I have just a little over $4k into this machine. I haven’t made money with it as I bought it for prototyping not realizing how popular CNC woodwork was as a salable item. Problem is finding something unique enough to stand out from what seems to be a flooded market.

I got a cnc shark for Christmas in 2020 I was about 13 years old then, didn’t even know what it was the first thing I started carving on it was cedar, I don’t know why. I only had it set to 1500 rpm, I thought I had it at 15,000. That’s the thing I don’t like about the spindle tho, but I got used to it. And the only mistake that I made was cutting through a aluminum hold down, I made quite a few things, I’m busy all the time because of school and sports and don’t have the motivation to do anything, in 2020 I was watching a bunch of wood lathe videos and I asked my dad if I could get that but instead he gave me the cnc, it was really easy after watching the tutorials now it’s like I don’t even think about It I just program what I want it to do. I’ve made a inlay cornhole board with Michigan logo, I probably could have made more but never had any good ideas and then I don’t know how to post on Facebook marketplace

@schmetterling44772 жыл бұрын
With a CNC router? Probably not a good idea. Steel requires machines with ten times the rigidity of soft material routers. If you don't care about the quality of the result... sure, you can always scratch the surface, but if you want precision? I don't think so.

You mentioned the amount of noise a CNC can make. This is because you, at least in this 13 month old video, are using a ROUTER with your CNC. You can get a third party Z carriage and SPINDLE to replace your existing setup, usually for around $300. There are many many brands, do your own research to see what's available, and most importantly, is it compatible with your CNC. The benefits to upgrading to a spindle, is that it will be A LOT quieter, more powerful, and in many cases, able to work faster than your router. KZbinr "Myer's Workshop" did a great 2 part video showing how and why he made the upgrade kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXS9iIyhnrt0jtU

I'm used to larger, corded routers kzbin.infoUgkxfQ5_mgwq6PcudJvAH25t-I4D-3cTPz4z so this was a different experience for me. Basically, this is an incredibly sweet machine, fits well in the hand, etc. It has slightly less power than I'm used to, but that's understandable. Maneuvering freehand takes some practice. These days, it's especially nice to be able to avoid power cords. This is above the level of a hobbyist but below a pro level.
@obe220993 жыл бұрын
If you approach this as being primarily a hobby without needing to justify the cost of entry this hobby turns into a full blown addiction. Same for power tools and 3d printing. At least it's a fun addiction.
