Same deal in US. Very few companies make production 8-strings. You usually have to go custom. No one wants to buy an expensive guitar to play like their favorite bands

I'm pretty sure this is a stock RG2228 so it would be rosewood. A high-quality piece of rosewood without a whole lot of visible grain, if oiled really well, can turn out pretty dark.

@brandon5pennies16 жыл бұрын
you'd have to tune a lot lower to get that sound thus removing notes on the top string so in a sense it is essential to have all the strings for what he's playing.
@Dav211216 жыл бұрын
A stock one comes with two lower strings, a low B and a low F# I think it is (someone correct me if I am wrong!) but there is nothing stopping you from stringing it up however you wish, I heard that Steve Vai used to sometimes string up his 7 strings with an extra high string instead of the Low B... so you could easily set it up to have one extra low string and an extra high string, or two extra high strings or the stock way with the two extra low strings...

That's interesting. He seems to use his thumb and fingers mostly with his alternate picking. I see guys like M.A. Batio using almost all forearm and wrist.
@Spieleschummler13 жыл бұрын
@Stooeybear13 There are 3 ways to Pick: 1. Pick with the whole arm (look at Slayer...) 2. Pick with the wrist, like almost everyone does, because it's balanced in between controle and speed 3. Only pick with the fingers, like him, which gives most contole of what you pick (I heard so..) But it's pretty damn pwnage, after thousand of thousands of guitar videos, I see this the first time, that someone uses the third type \m/

@SGTSHOOTnMISS14 жыл бұрын
@FantasticSkyChariot your right on that one 100%, the tendon in my right arm is very worn down from it, and i found that using a wrist technique really helps with speedpicking. i only use elbow now for stuff like Nirvana or Hendrix, but the wrist really helps with timing and cleaner picking

@Vlaxitov well i see what you mean, i dont see how thats superior but I definitely see how it can get the same job done, but i just think a multi-oriented instrument is a lot more handy. that's really the only point im trying to get across, is that it can do more. anything that a six string cant do, it has to use something external or tune down to emulate the same sound, which i think is a little silly. but i see what you mean, a baritone can emulate an 8 pretty well.
@LinkGrayX214 жыл бұрын
@Vlaxitov that goes back to detuning normal six string guitars to emulate 7 or 8 strings.. its just being lazy or unwilling to adapt to a bigger neck. not to mention you'd be missing out on 2 higher strings. tbh i think people need to just get with the times.
@gaunten15 жыл бұрын
rusty cooley, among others... they just have the low B and a high A instead of the low F# also, conklin has built an 8 string with 36 frets with a high A, so that's a pretty high top note you could hit there...
@morganchavis16 жыл бұрын
yeah, they only have 7 string packs but I have to get custom sets of strings anyway so it doesn't really matter to me. Which ESP 8 string did you get and what tuning do you play in?

Well, check out Sherman from the prog band "Scale The Summit" his 8 string has a low B and a high G. And I think Rusty Cooley also has an 8 string that has an extra high string (saw it from a website that shows his collection of guitars). And some jazz guitarists uses those kind of guitars.

@TheDrumminMan0814 жыл бұрын
what most people seem to forget is that this is basically the same technique as writing your name out with a pencil. which is nowhere near as precise or fast as just using the wrist. picking from the elbow isn't very good either.

@macaframa1214 жыл бұрын
@Kaoskadosk well of course, its physics. you have to move your elbow in order to get the arm to bend, and i know all about the big chords i play acoustic also, but its still all in the wrist lol. you can strum without movin the elbow, wich wouldnt be the greatest, but youll never be able to strum without bending the wrist, unless your a robot so there for my friend its all in the wrist.
