My favorite Neil Armstrong story: Buzz comes in and sees Neil working on some paperwork at his desk. He then goes to his boss to say "So, what's the plan for today?" His boss replies: "Everything's scrapped, the test vehicle exploded and Neil barely got out alive." "But I just saw him at his desk!" "Oh, he's filling out the post-testing report."

@@Justin-pj8or He may have not said 'a' but that's supposed to be what he meant. It sounds like there may have been a momentary break right at that moment. LOL! But then you have to give Armstrong a pass as well, it was the first time Humans stepped foot on the lunar surface and he had just completed the first lunar landing! Hahaha! It's crazy when you think about it!

sorry folks - But Buzz Aldrin was always thinking of himself - no matter the situation or the question - self-absorbed and jealous that Neil was first out - It was Buzz Aldrin that overloaded the computer during the descent to the surface - only the surface radar was supposed to be working during the descent but Buzz decided to leave the orbiter tracking radar on for the ascent back up and re-docking - This was not the procedure that was planned - it was not rehearsed in the simulator - just a last second decision by Aldrin - It almost caused an abort - Neil is the real rocket man here - Aldrin was just in the right place at the right time - RIP Neil Armstrong - American Hero

I agree with you to some degree. Buzz' father actually lobbied hard for him to the be the first man on the moon but it didn't work. Opinions vary on whether Buzz had him do it or his father did it on his own.

@@fallguye6011 Agree. Neil was ALL business. My Dad was career Air Force and when we were stationed at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio, he would run into Gus Grissom occasionally. He was ALL business in the same way according to my Dad. I heard it rumored that Gus was to be on the first landing mission after successful Apollo launches that were planned. Obviously that never got to happen.

Colin Southern- For the most part, the people in the dark to whom you refer lack a well rounded education. People like that will always be easy prey for social arsonists and tin foil hat conspiracy theorists, because they lack the ability to analyze or form value judgements on even moderately complex issues. Against that type of mindset which denies what it doesn't understand, there's little that you can do.
@manilajohn01826 жыл бұрын
And kudos to you for trying. It's alarming that so many Americans are so ignorant of the moon landing that they're actually unsure as to whether or not it took place.
@manilajohn01826 жыл бұрын
And I agree. Just how much of the idiocy is incidental and how much of it is deliberately induced via a dumbed down educational system is an open question.
