I too totally get where Joe was coming from because I suffer terribly with poor mental health and explosive anger issues. All Bourne from years of abuse when I was young. I'm not totally over it, but I'm slowly getting there. I also record at home both analogue and digital, and when I feel low I throw myself into my music to help me to focus on something positive. But when all is said and done I still have difficulties. But dear Joe brought such colour and excitement to the music industry for which I shall be eternity grateful. R.I.P Joe Meek, Violet Shenton, Geoff Goddard, Heinz Burt, Chas Hodges and Patrick Pink. Much love and light to all who share and watch this video. Paul. 😇🥰😎

Yes. Bless him! I am So sorry he had to experience that kind of trauma. Back in the day, no one understood anything about counselling and, of course, psychiatrist were thought to be crazy. Ignorance is harmful. It was good to hear Patrick's recollection of the day in question. It is really quite synchronous for me. Just last evening, I watched the latest rendition of a movie on Netflix, called "Telstar." Just seeing the name and then hearing the "Telstar" music took me back to my teenage years, as it has done for most of my life. I was a teenager in England. Actually, I was not in the UK when I first heard the recording. I was travelling with my family to the south of France. We were driving into Grenoble when it came on the radio. It fascinated me to no end. I knew it was different, extraordinary. It takes me back to that moment in time, each and every time. I was 15 or 16 years old then. More Recently, I have been doing some processing of my past, revisiting the person I was once, and moving into a new-found course at this time. What a surprise also to learn that Marty Wilde was a topic of conversation in this Joe Meek's story. Again, it took me back to our time in France. That was also the time I ran into Marty Wilde! He was getting a pizza in Juan-les- Pins, a neighbouring town of Antibes, where my dad had a place. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about Meek's contributions to that great time in our music's history. Meek was obviously a deeply troubled soul. Patrick Pink appeared quite a loyal support to Meek in the 'hay day' of new musical sound of the 60s. I can only glean impressions of how their relationship was from that movie. There were many involved in Meek's successes, although the focus will be on Joe Meek. Thanks to Patrick for leaving this story of his last day. It was a little different than the movie - the part where he said he was downstairs when Meek took his life. Thanks for reading this lot!

Thanks for commenting. Yes, the film took a bit of 'artistic license', but overall quite good that it renewed interest in the Joe Meek story. Yes, Joe Meek was the recording engineer on at least 5 of Marty Wilde's records.

@@Buzzer365 I wonder, do you recall Jackie Trent, singer-songwriter? Am an avid fan of Jackie. We became interconnected. Sadly, she passed away in 2015 and I attended her memorial service in Chesterton. Her vocal talents were extraordinary. Sorry, I'm a bit off topic, but I love that era in British pop/rock.

Wayne, I had a pint with your uncle in Holloway in 2015. Turned out we knew a lot of the same people when he lived at Maitland Park, I found him to be one of the most genuine and likeable people I have met. We also 'spoke' a lot on facebook and twitter, and I was honoured to have been allowed to be at his funeral. Denis.

It was, but not many people consider that Patirck too was a casualty of that day, the memories were always with him.

@@Buzzer365 Yes. You’re so correct. I cannot imagine witnessing that carnage and then reliving it over and over again (especially during the interviews). The PTSD must have been horrendous. He seems to have moved on with his life, though, despite these very challenges and that is an inspiration. He was part of music history, and he was proud and protective of Joe’s accomplishments. As you know, Buzzer365, many people from this era are gone now and we must preserve their voices and faces in helping to tell the real story of Joe Meek. Thank you for doing just that. RIP Joe, Mrs. Shenton and now Patrick

Yes...thats the tragedy of "drug induced psychosis" an extremely common side effect from heavy amphetamines' use as is paranoia. :( tragic genius...feel ver sorry for poor Mrs Shelton...she had a family as well. :(
