Mix together 1 1/2 tbsp agar and 2 1/2 tsp sugar in a bowl. In a pot, 1 cup water and the agar and sugar mixture. (Increase amounts in proportion according to how much raindrop cake you want.). Bring to almost boiling on high, then turn heat to very low for 2 min. Put pot directly into an ice bath for 3 min. Pour into your container and chill 1 hour. I've done it this way probably ten times and the cake always comes out crystal clear. Bringing the water to a simmer first or not cooling quickly with the ice bath usually overcooks the agar and it either won't set right or ends up cloudy.
