Agreed! The only one where it worked well I think was in Once Upon A Time - because they purposely made it a bit tongue in cheek (where the dark one thought it was silly and the Queen was annoyed at everyone singing), but being fairytale characters it just fit the vibe so it worked

i had a crush on him when i was a kid and watched prince caspian. And then I saw him in Shadow and Bone and MAN has he aged like the finest of all wines. The weird thing is I also saw him in Westworld and both times, he is such a convincingly bad person that its hard to connect those charactors to this adorable, polite british man.
