SEE THIS FILM, so amazingly moving, powerful, and evidence of the empirically heartfelt commitment to helping women and families. Five stars.

Not seen it, but every time i hear these interviews, very moving. And the interviewer is a bit breathless, but yes.

I'm from Oldham and was born in the same hospital as Louise Brown a couple of years before she was. very odd hearing my hometown get a mention in something starring Bill Nighy 😆. Also, little Trivia some might not know, Brendan O'Carroll, otherwise known as Agnes Brown from Mrs Browns Boys, got the Characters name after reading an article in a newspaper about Louise.

As someone still lacking in more extreme expressions of baby fever, it truly shocked me to behold a phenomenon that was fuled by the human desire that these women (and the husband at the end) felt to have a child, to care for a baby. The fact that these were women's deep-seated desires (just as forward-looking as they are on some level irrational) and decisions (informed by science) that were encouraged and respected in the creation of IVF, without being coerced and corrected by those of men ordering the universe, was what puts this movie into a special category. And I think the fact that the story wasn't meant to be a political statement helped bring women's desires (which were at the time still somewhat depoliticised) to the fore.
