A mono relationship between parents is not inherently unhealthy for a child, and often winds up unstable and unsafe anyway. So it’s not about poly or mono, it’s about parenting and actual dynamic.

I have 3 theories. 1.) I think during the honeymoon, Ronnie told Christina that he and Jack were in love. Perhaps he told her that Jack marrying Christina was just a coverup so that he and Jack could be together without anyone figuring out their gay affair. That would explain Christina being emotionally unstable. She finally decides to kill herself and Jack along with her because after all, he was the one who was lying about his love for her the whole time. Also, it would have been much harder for her to manage to kill BOTH Jack and Ronnie. So she decides to take out the one who hurt her the most. So, after Ronnie leaves the cabin for a while, she poisons Jack and herself, leaves Jack inside the cabin, sets the cabin on fire as a crime of passion, and then either A. intentionally drowns herself in the river, possibly with the motives of framing Ronnie as a way to punish him as well B. while walking by the river, she passes out due to the drugs and drowns 2.) Ronnie was in love with Jack but Jack didn't know. So, to get back at Jack for marrying Christina, he decided to kill them both. He drugged them both, hit Jack over the head so that he wouldn't interfere while trying to kill Christina, Christina runs out of the house in fear and heads towards the river, Ronnie catches up to her and drowns her, went back to the cabin, sets it on fire, realizes that either there's no reason to kill Jack now that Christina is out of the picture or he realizes the horror in what he's done/doing, decides to rescue Jack, and grabs the letters in order to frame Christina. 3.)supporting one of the theories mentioned in the video, perhaps Christina was so paranoid about losing Jack, she decided to kill him and herself so that no one else could have him and because she was nothing without him. And Ronnie, sensing something was off, went along with them on the honeymoon to make sure things didn't go south. But he also never said anything to Jack because he didn't want to ruin things between him and Christina

My theory: Christina was driven mad with jealousy of Jack and Ronnie's relationship (maybe because they were lovers, or maybe she was just jealous of their emotional intimacy). That morning she drugged Jack, causing him to become disoriented and hit his head on the kitchen counter or something similar. She set the house on fire, then drugged herself, intending to kill herself but instead becoming intoxicated (because she'd been abusing codeine and had built up a resistance) and wandering off in a daze, eventually passing out in a puddle and subsequently drowning. I think it's pretty standard practice to buy life insurance prior to marriage, and there's nothing extraordinary about sharing a vacation home with your best friend.

The way I interpret it - Jack and Ronald were lovers and Jack was in a phoney relationship to hide that fact. Ronald tagged along on the honeymoon but the already depressed wife discovered their relationship and killed herself and Jack while he was away. She drugged Jack, then tried to burn the cabin down but Ronald got there too fast. She later took pills and drowned in the lake after the authorities left. I’d like/hate to think that when this case was over, media was still all over Jack and Ronnie’s lives, seeing as they kept up with Jack’s marriage, and to save their gay relationship, they went separate ways so as to not sensationalize their connection to each other. Unfortunately, it led to them never seeing each other again. Kinda like “if you love something, set it free” and also like the trauma of what went down is pretty intense and put a strain on their relationship. Obviously I’d like to spin my own made up version of what happened after the case went cold, but i think this much sadder version is closer to reality ☹️

Two best friends, been friends for years. Jack meets a nice girl, and goes out for a bit. It becomes obvious to the guys though, this lady is not well. Maybe she’s experienced emotional abuse before. (My mind wanders to EUPD, but just a theory). Anyway, Jack asks her to marry him after realising she is not well, and wants to look after and put her fears to rest. But she knows the rumours, Jack and Ronald...people say they’re more than friends. They get married. But Jack is getting more and more concerned. He asks his friend to come along to the honeymoon. He seems to be able communicate with her better than he can. Ronald, equally concerned for her, and his best friend agrees. This is the final straw for her though. She can’t bear it. If they can’t be happy in live, then they can be happy in heaven, away from Ronald... But Ronald comes back. He saves Jacks, and tries to save her too. She can’t bare it. She leaves, having swallowed a bunch of pills before. The murder-suicide failed. She decides to flee. Escape the scene. She trips, she stumbles, and of all things, it’s a mere inch of water that kills her.

But I think that they both kinda knew what Christina was capable of, and had a vague idea of what she was planning particularly Ronnie. So they kinda drove her to it for the insurance money, (they were both struggling and their reasoning was "if she's going to do it anyway might as well benefit"). But Ronnie couldn't handle the pressure of the police/media attention so their relationship was strained then broken. Jack remarried, had kids, and they were still friends, but not like it was before. Then Ronnie got a Job in the states and he left. And they never spoke again.

To me, this seems more like an attempted murder and suicide. Christina was probably medicating herself, and was suffering from some sort of mental illness. After getting married, and knowing Christina’s issues, Jack decided to get life insurance in case Christina attempted suicide. Ronnie was also aware and concerned for his friend, so he came along to the honeymoon. When Jack and Christina were alone, she knocked Jack out by hitting him on the head, and set the cabin on fire to kill Jack and possibly herself. Christina takes the drugs, and Ronnie returns and sees Jack has been hurt. Taking Jack into his car, he left Christina (cuz girl is crazy) and drove to the hospital. After taking the drugs, Christina probably wandered out, collapsed in the water, and drowned herself. I did find it interesting on how close Jack and Ronnie were, but maybe they were just close friends, and after this happened they decided to split apart to move on from this tragedy? Very interesting case!

This could be possible if there was evidence of a romantic relationship between the two. So far, it’s only suspicious. It’s also not that uncommon for men to stick together like glue if their friendship was very close (bromances can sometimes be stronger than romantic relationships). What makes me think they weren’t gay lovers, is the fact that they split and never heard or saw eachother again. Plus, Jack remarried and had kids.

The more open society becomes the more people talk freely about their individual experiences and the more our understanding of the lgbt+ community changes. They did not have the vocabulary that we have today, and so most would not have quite the same sense of identity that we have. What that means is that back then, if you liked someone of your own gender, you were a homosexual. If you liked someone of your own gender *sometimes* you were also a homosexual. They didn't have really a broad understanding of trans people either, so they were also called homosexuals. Asexual people? Frigid, but when in doubt, also a homosexual, probably. And so, most understanding queer people had of themselves were kind of cobbled together out of a life of shame and opression, if they didn't have imediate access to the underground queer scene. Some gay people would push for straight relationships cause "that's what you're supposed to do", some people would get married and maybe truly love their spouse, but also maybe still have side affairs, and sometimes it would be like "Aunt Geraldine was a spinster and may or may not have lived with her very close roommate Olivia till one of them died" And then you'd have someone like, Idk, James Dean, who was very "dude ya wanna smooch this weekend" about everything.

I wonder if she perhaps drugged and knocked him out, and was going to set the cottage on fire to murder him then kill herself. However the other man Ronald saved him, so she could only kill herself. She took painkillers and drowned herself to make her suicide less painful. And reason she got so distraught is because she knew that her husband and Ronald had something going on. That's why she got more and more upset, especially since Ronald came to the honeymoon. She knew even though he married her he was actually in love with Ronald, and she could never "have" him.

If Jack and Ronnie were gay, it seems odd that they would go completely separate ways and never contact each other ever again. I understand that they couldn't be together publically at the time and perhaps the guilt/memories of killing Christina (assuming they did - if not her suicide would still affect them greatly) tainted their relationship. Still strange that Jack got remarried and had 2/3 children (can't remember how many). Where did Ronnie go? Seems like he dropped off the face of the Earth but why? Perhaps this case will always remain unsolved

@@bustedkeaton I know - I am bi myself. I'm more talking about the fact that they never talked to each other again. Assuming they did kill Christina so they could be together, why wouldn't they run off together? It seems strange that they would kill her and then split, presumably to never see each other for the rest of their lives. Kinda strange imo

@@ladydixon9651 I think this whole killing was Ronnie's plan and Jack just went along with it. Maybe for money or maybe for love but after Christina's death, Jack was consumed by guilt and ended everything with Ronnie. Ronnie already got the money he wanted so he just left without making any fuss.

maybe their trauma broke their relationship a lil and ,as obviously homosexuality wasnt permitted at the time, jack went on to marry a woman and go down the ‘typical heterosexual path’

I got a theory, Maybe Christina attempted to commit a murder-suicide? Christina could have attempted suicide with medication, but failed, was upset about her failure and attempted to drug Jack as a way to deal with the stress of Jack possibly not loving her, hit him over the head to try to make him unconsious and then started the fire to attempt to get rid of the evidence and the body. With her own death, maybe she slipped and drowned? Or went unconcious from medication or from hitting something and drowned? Maybe she took the drugs after she burnt the cabin down and then passed out and drowned in the water?

Okay so I just found you guys but I saw the Q&A before this and someone's comment made me think. They asked how Christina could drown in 9in of water, but if you take into account the codeine and lack of signs of violence she could have died because of an overdose. Both drowning and overdosing on codeine can cause hypoxia so ruling her death a "drowning" without stating there was water in her lungs could point to an overdose causing her death. I think it's entirely plausible that one of the boys gave her a little too much and caused her death, or she could have taken too much of the drug on her own and died because of it. I haven't done much research on this otherwise, but going on the general summary of events you gave, if it wasn't the water that killed her it could've been the drugs.
