It’s the kind of pain that silences some of us. I have had labor and kidney stones which are frankly worse and I assure you I’ve never screamed. Different people manage pain differently and I will silently vomit its so bad but I literally cannot make noises with my mouth, they ask questions and you nod and then they still ask like they’re demanding you to speak and it’s at THAT point you say very calmly and succinctly “drugs now please”. I’m also a nurse so I know the screamers, I try to remind them that it’s just making it worse, but people gotta do what they gotta do. I know I almost dissociate, kidney stones are awful and I try to take the ball of pain and close my eyes visualizing it breaking into a thousand manageable pieces and floating to all parts of my body, it works but then they think I’m deaf mute 😂

@Carrie Halliday the "danger" is mild risk of aspiration under general anesthetic. If you need an emergency C-Section you will very rarely get general anesthetic, and never if you already have a epidural. In trauma situations people get general without fasting all the time because the risk is pretty low. Not eating is dangerous as you need the energy to not stall in labour. Unfortunatly this lovely lady got tonnes of aweful medical advice (completely terrible advise about the implcations of dilation. bad info on the purpose and implications of the mucus plug. uneccesary cervical checks. poor choice of induction method.)

I had two dramatically different pregnancies and deliveries....i would do it all over again my kids are my everything and were worth all the pain. Plus as soon as the baby is born the brain releases a chemical that makes you forget the pain essentially.

You don't have to wait to be in extreme pain to ask for an epidural. Which makes you feel LITERALLY nothing other than pressure. Coming from someone who was terrified of labor to the point of not wanting children, then getting pregnant, it's honestly not as horrible of an experience as you think. And knowing that there is a finish line is definitely a motivator.

I was 19 when I first went into labour, I was 26 weeks pregnant (first pregnancy), except I was in labour for 24-48 hours. My boy was born at 11:58pm on the 23rd December 7 years ago. My youngest however was a 37.5week born bub and it doesn't matter what gestation you give birth it flippin hurts like you want to push out a huge crap except it's a tiny bub. I was on my hands and knees for this one, bit a hole in the top of the delivery room matteress while crowning then low and behold she was born. Very emotional and a beautiful moment

I guess she means that the plan for her birth kind of went 'wrong', it didn't work out as planned/expected. Little births do I guess :) But furthermore it looked like kind a straight forward and normal birth to me too, fortunately! Had 3 baby boys too, all without epidural (us Dutch people 😳) and the moment where she clutches to the railing of the bed in dispair....VERY familiar feeling...autch!! Lmao “stole” my sisters account to write this don’t judge 😂 : I’m a teen mom (16 when baby was born, 19 now) and my labor was absolutely horrifying. My mom was deployed in the military so she was late and my dad was having a panic attack the whole time. (He had come from work and had to leave the delivery room cause he was more scared than I was). My baby’s father moved across the country after we broke up mid-pregnancy. My best guy friend actually drove me to the hospital. He and his parents stayed with me the entire delivery and he got to hold my daughter once she got all fixed up. Though my daughters father has been involved in our lives, my best friend now fiancé has been more of a dad to our little girl (he sometimes refuses to let me hold her when we’re snuggling) Birth is messy and painful and frightening but the right person going through it with you during and after can be all the difference in the world. Yes. Yes. Yes. Never a truer word about the right person being with you making all the difference. I knew my husband for only a couple of months before the pregnancy and so we were relative strangers on delivery day. Very much still getting to know one another (still are). During my oldest daughter's birth, I literally threw up repeatedly, had an epidural, and then pitocin, and then my body wouldbt stop forcing contractions and my daughters head wasnt turned so I was pushing her onto my spine for an hour and a half. I was begging my nurse to cut me open. I understand getting to the point where it's too much.

EDIT: Thank you for changing the title 😊 Congratulations guys, this is a beautiful video! But I'm sorry, I just have to say something about the title. Sounds like a pretty standard birth to me. No, it didn't go to plan but nothing went wrong or was made harder than it needed to be. But people see the title and thumbnail and think something bad happened. For someone who may have had a traumatic labour they may have been looking for someone who experienced something similar. I think it's just wrong to clickbait things like that. You would've gotten just as much attention by simply titling it "Our Baby Is Here!" Something that celebrates his birth and the whole process. It doesn't seem like anything (almost) went wrong, so be happy and celebrate that it didn't. Not everyone is so lucky.

As someone who suffered life altering injuries (as in lost my career as a firefighter over them) from giving birth, I am very put off by this. I understand that people can only relate to their own experiences, and this may have been the worst of her 3 deliveries. Please just be thankful for the experience and health of you and your baby, there are many women out there who are much less fortunate.

I remember having such intense painful contractions that I opted out of a Natural birth like I wanted and screamed I need a epidural. I cried when getting my epidural because I felt like a failure but the nurse there reminded me that i’m not an that I was having a person and if an epidural made it to where I could enjoy my birthing experience that I was doing the right thing. I had my amazing baby boy only 5 hours after that an I regret nothing.

Actually, as someone who has given birth naturally, I didn't even feel my tear while I gave birth without any drugs. It's all so intense that you don't even pay attention to if you tear or not! It was a blessing 😅
