A great light, but you might wanna have that mounting bracket for the ballast checked, On the first day my T8 58W/835 was fitted, the ballast's vibrations dropped the bracket, and out fell the ballast and CRASH went the lamp on the concrete of our kitchen floor!!

If I may make a request, can you make a long loop of this? Believe it or not it helps me sleep and that's really what I need!
@lightingkid2010 Жыл бұрын
i know this is an old comment, but you could right click on the video and hit "loop" and the video will keep looping and never stop until you tell it too. which is right clicking on the video again and hitting loop again, and then the video will no longer loop.

@Y0uTube235 as mentioned below in the comments,the ballast is not buzzing because of a Fault,its buzzing because its mounted loosely in the chasis,the ballast is not old either.
@form10914 жыл бұрын
@colinward007 in this Case the Buzzing is occuring because the Ballast is not solidly mounted to the Fixture Frame...so when its powered up the Little Choke is creating an alternating magnetic field that is attracting and repelling the Frame at line frequency (60 Hz)
@redbarron113 жыл бұрын
@form109 not bad! i try to make fixtures out of wood LOL. what's the choke look like? just a small winding of wire?
@redbarron113 жыл бұрын
@form109 an easy way to kill the ballast on those LOA fixtures is taking two different bulbs and shorting the ends of the fixture with the bulbs. the electronic ballasts in those things have no internal protection devices. i don't buy those fixtures anymore either.
@form10914 жыл бұрын
The Reason its Buzzing so Loudly is that the Ballast is Mounted Loosely...so Obviously the Alternating Magnetic Field would cause the Metal Shell of the Fixture to Vibrate at Line Frequency.

@BowlingMania14 in this case the Ballast itself hardly hums....however in this video it was mounted very loosely to the steel chasis....the magnetic energy from the energized ballast caused the steel to buzz against it.

@Y0uTube235 yes we are 60 Hz in America....though i don't know if there is any particular advantage of either frequency,however i know opperating 60 Hz Equipment on 50 Hz Line Current will most likely cause overheating and damage,Electronic Ballasts don't buzz,but some might emit high frequency noises.
@RedTheAngryBird4384 ай бұрын
It buzzes at 120 Hz, our ones are at 100 Hz. Looks like the sinusoid wave are changing him 120 Times per second (60 Hz) or 100 Times per seconds (50 Hz)

@colinward007 ive had my share of Electrical Accidents...when the Two Hot Wires contact each other just for a second the breaker doesnt trip...however when one live Wire Contacts the Earth Connection(Ground)..the breaker Pops off instantly...why is that?
@form10913 жыл бұрын
@Y0uTube235 the Setup i got going here is Rapid Start in Nature.....the Ballast Choke is connected to the lamp...the two additional pins are connected to another choke and a capaciator....when the metal shell is grounded this gives a Rapid Start Type ignition....if i wire a Starter in there i dont have to ground it to light it......

@TheSoxmania this fixture was a home creation lol...from random parts....the ballast is a Tiny Choke from a cheap shoplight....the thing is a 1" Square with a Depth of about .25" and it weighs not even a pound so if i did fall out i wouldn't be too concerned ,but that's an intreasting story you told that's quite unfortunate.
