There's something in the tone of her voice, and of all singers from her era, that is completely and totally unmatched with anything that has been sung ever since....
@tashspeak38774 жыл бұрын
i know what you mean - It's not just the singers - the songwriters who gave them a vehicle for their voices are unrivalled too- We need some more Kerns, Harburgs & Arlens, Kander & Ebbs, Martins & Blanes! Imagine Judy being asked to sing 'under my umbrella... ella...ella....' she'd just give 'that' look and walk off! 😂

Less tuning and more enunciation. It gives the music a more natural sound as opposed to the overly produced sounds of today.

The Christmases I remember, were rather magical. My Grandmother directing my holiday decorating, at 9 years old. (Mother at work) and her talking about Santa, and how he visits our home, (the true Spirit of SANTA, if you have been real good, A Legend at my Mothers' home, my older brother saw him at 5, and then I saw him at 5 also, I almost passed out.) SOOO, I will always "Believe" . I miss my Grandmother and her wonderful love, and the world was so different, THEN... Blessings to all.

Hearing the extraorinary voice of Judy Garland, her phrasing, and all, and combines for instance with the magnificent pure resonance of Andy Williams on O Holy Night, what is better than that?

I hurt myself by allowing myself to hear such beautiful toons. It softens me. I watch the most graphic and spiritually dampening material available on the internet to shut out the inner thoughts. My ability to discipline myself fails now, and I consume. Tomorrow my mind will be poisoned with the hope of a better, more comfortable life. I deceive myself with that hope.

She died in 1969 and sang strongly up until about-1966. There's a video on KZbin of Judy singing 'Smile' in approximately 1963 and it's so beautiful it moved me to tears. No other singer has ever done that to me. It's especially amazing when you realize that in late '59 she came down with a serious case of hepatitis and doctors told her that she'd never sing again. Instead she amazingly recovered and went in singing for another 10 years almost.

@@wildsmiley There's something in her genes for sure - Liza and Judy both defy doctors and the odds - they're often portrayed as fragile troubled little things but it takes a will of iron to keep getting up every time they get knocked down and keep fighting and keep performing. I have so much respect for the pair of them I really do.
