BWCAW Sept 4 - 11, 2020 Saganaga Lake to Seagull Lake Loop - 8 days/76 miles

Our first canoe trip trip together to the BWCA, leaving from Voyageur Canoe Outfitters in Grand Marais, MN. They shuttled us in a John boat to American Point on Saganaga Lake. We paddled through Ottertrack Lake and Knife Lake down to Dorothy Moutler's island, then across the south arm of Knife Lake and eventually into Alpine and Seagull Lakes to exit at Voyageur Canoe Outfitters.
With Covid-19 lockdowns, we saw an unusually high number of paddlers and few available campsites, as well as evidence that some newcomers aren't well-versed in "leave-no-trace etiquette".
76 miles paddled over 8 days, with a stiff headwind, waves and whitecaps the first 2 1/2 days. Highlights were the Palisade on Knife Lake, the Palisade on Seagull Lake, the weather (50's-70's), no bugs, our campsite for the last 2 nights on Alpine Lake and the food (thanks to Kevin Ride of Kevin Outdoors).
Wish we'd spent more time on Dorothy Moulter's and Benny Ambrose's islands, but that's for another trip...
