It was Pete Willis who wrote most of the songs for pyromania, not Steve Clark.
@TenMinutesLyne6 ай бұрын
@@chrish7 What makes you say that Chrish. I mean I know Pete only got 4 writing credits, Photograph, Comin Under Fire, Billy's Got a Gun and Too Late fore Love, incedentally they are the only 'demos' the band recently released apart from Rock Rock. I wonder why demos of the other songs he wasn't credited for have not been released 🤔 I think we can assume that Pete wrote the bulk of those songs, I mean we know he was 'Comin Under Fire' probably felt like Gunning somebody down but he knew it was Too late for love, the curtain was coming down and another guitarist was in the wings with a cast of thousands waiting. Ha Ha.

One of he GREATEST SONGS ever recorded on guitar,.So difficult to play a WHOLE SONG on guitar (especially electric),.and never use the OPEN NOTES,.I'm guessing this goes from C minor and varies to G minor or D minor.,Incredible,.Great job Dude, .But even MORE props to STEVE CLARK,.AMAZING,.Not many songs are recorded in this tuning in a pop song on electric guitar,.You have to be a COMPLETE DRUNK to compose this!

+Mitch Hamann Yeah I've heard it. Similar to the one he's plays on the b-side live version from the Hysteria tour. His opening licks are cool but the really fast stuff is just a mess to me.

+bwm5150 Have you ever tried playing it? It's really tough to get down he's a very fast guitar player. I've watched many of his shredding videos and he seizes to amaze me. He had a video paying at Guitar Center and it's much slower and emotional it's awesome.
@bwm51509 жыл бұрын
+Mitch Hamann No not that specific solo. For me, his best fast stuff is on songs like Stagefright or Ring of Fire. It fits in with the song and it's tempo more. Ring of Fire is probably my favourite of his to play for that type of stuff.

hey you should cover songs from the bootleg album's First Strike and Warchild, some really interesting stuff on there. When you listen to their earlier stuff you can really see what they lost when they kicked out Pete Willis
@bwm51508 жыл бұрын
I may venture into that stuff once I'm done with the official discography. I must admit I prefer the stylings of High n Dry to earlier writing with Pete. Great riffs in more traditional rock songs rather than the adventurous styles earlier on that were very hit and miss for me.
@noahstephens24778 жыл бұрын
i agree with you, high n dry is their pinnacle for me anyway, but i think its interesting to listen to some of their early stuff. being a huge pete willis fan that i am, i enjoy listen to their early stuff, as his contributions were a lot more highlighted on OTTN and the bootleg demos.
@bwm51508 жыл бұрын
Definitely makes for interesting listening, especially considering how young they were. They were still extremely young making HnD. I think of the early work as them finding their feet, experimenting with different styles. Although some say High n Dry is like the band trying to sound like ACDC, I think the cohesiveness of the record makes it sound like they had found a comfortable style.
@noahstephens24778 жыл бұрын
bwm5150 well working with mutt Lange, who produced AC/DC for awhile, you're bound to sound a bit similar. DL kinda had this more mysterious sound to them, like on Lady Strange or Mirror Mirror to name a couple. I don't personally care for hysteria onwards, just got a little too bubble gum for me. Kinda lost that hard rock edge from OTTN, HnD era. Have you ever checked out the band Roadhouse? It was Pete's band 10 years or so after he left DL. I think it kinda suits your style
@bwm51508 жыл бұрын
Yeah Mutt's influence was key but the songs really lent towards that style anyway. Once Mutt got in on the writing they really began to create something new and original in terms of a full album. Melody is always the thing for me in songs that keep me going back, which I think is lacking in the early material but that's understandable. Songs like Die Hard The Hunter, Gods Of War, Desert Song and Fractured Love are the perfect blend for heavy guitar with cool melody and production for my tastes. I've heard the odd Roadhouse song which were pretty cool.

Hey Ben, got a question... I noticed Live that Steve plays the first solo and Phil plays the second solo. do you have any knowledge of whether Steve, Pete, or Phil wrote and played the second solo on the album? since there's 3 guitarists having possibly putting input and knowing a good bit of the pressure was on Steve I was wondering if it was safe to assume Steve wrote and played it as well on the album, and Phil played it live. or if you have any knowledge otherwise.
@bwm5150 Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure how it was on the record. Instinctively I think Phil as it has some of his typical blues notes and vibrato, but I’ve been wrong in the past and I haven’t read anything specifically on that.

Hey + bwm5150, do you think that the solo bridge and ending solo is by Steve or Phil. I saw an interview that only Phil played photograph solo, rock rock till you drop and Stage fright cause Pete left and Steve didn"t want to do all 10 solos. I believe its Steve but i've seen Phil do it live. Not sure who wrote what on pyromania lol. Don"t know if you feel the tsame
@bwm51509 жыл бұрын
+Matthew Mooney Steve does the main solo and Phil does that lead break which is also at the end. What they do live is a good indication of what they did on the record except for Die Hard The Hunter as I belive Steve did it all on the record but they go between each other live. Phil solos on Rock Rock, Photograph, Stagefright, Foolin', Rock of Ages and maybe on Action Not Words. Steve does the rest.
@hurricanejoe19718 жыл бұрын
