I used my bucket on my compact tractor this morning, the wood seems like it might be helpful. It was the first time I ever did snow with my tractor. It went pretty well. Next time will probably go even better, but it sure was easier than shoveling! I am close to 70, so - old dog, new tricks!

Thanks for doing all these comparisons. We haven't had to plow here yet, a very wierd winter so far, so a snow pusher is probably not in our future. But, when the snow does show up, I plan to be ready with your bucket side boards. All the best, Ben

They will probably work well for you. No snow at all? Crazy. I would be so sad.

Great investment. Now save up for a back blade to complete the snow plowing jem. They work so good together. Happy snow plowing and stay safe.

Sooooo, I’m in the market for a compact tractor and I didn’t want to spend the money on a blower ( front or rear ) or something else, I wanted to just go with the bucket for snow removal. Well seeing you temporarily turn your bucket into a pusher made me think and really like that idea, it could work for my driveway and neighbors I plow. I know you’re showing us the pusher you bought in this vid but I like the idea of turning your bucket into one with boards or maybe even something with some more support to use all winter long. Great vid man!

Thanks! Have fun with it.

I have not personally tried clearing the driveway with just a bucket but from most of the KZbin videos available, a bucket is not recommended as it is very likely you will gouge the driveway whether it is asphalt, concrete or stone. For that reason the pusher is recommended over a bucket. You do not want to be spending your money repairing your neighbors driveways in the spring.

@gmeck100 edge tamers change that dramatically

Nice comparison video. I have a Land Pride Snow Pusher 60” as well with the back drag option for my BX2380. I gather you don’t have the skid steer two lever quick detach system on your loader as you made the comment that it was a pain to switch between the bucket and snow pusher. I have the skid steer quick detach and that is the way to go. Thanks again for the video!
@BigGuyLittleTractor Жыл бұрын
I do have it actually. It was only a pain to constantly switch back and forth.

Hey man good job on making your own.. pushers are awesome I didn’t finish the video only because I have to go actually go to work and plow. But honestly with the pusher you made with the bucket, I wouldn’t even bother dumping just because you have the length with the boards just not the hight. The snow in the bucket is minimal in the overall scheme of things. Just to keep the speed up overall awesome man.. I’m subscribing!

Agreed. I have tried that too and it is pretty quick.

I never heard of a dedicated snow pusher but is a great idea! I think that I might modify my a bit too large bucket for my MF35X to become something like yours. The bottom is rusted through at several places and I have been planning for repairing that but simply shortening it and moving the scraper blade back and reinforcing the sides will be better as I do not use it for anything other than pushing snow. Thank you for the video!

Watched this before but lost the video when I thought about doing it. I was looking at another plowing video and this old one just showed up. I have the materials so I'm gonna build one tonight in my heated shop. I also have a rear blade and I put a 5 foot ABS plastic pipe on the bottom to protect my gravel drive and my lawn. It lasted 3 winters and for the first time it fell off and is buried somewhere in one of my deep piles. I ordered a new pipe till I find the old one in the spring. I simply cut a strip down the middle and pound it on the cutting bar. I have the BX 1880 but I sure wish I would have gotten the 2380 so I could have a backhoe.
@BigGuyLittleTractorАй бұрын
Sounds like fun! The 2380 doesn’t have a subframe for the backhoe. You have to get the specific model (23S?).

Great video. Well the wood is a bit cheaper 😂 than the snow pusher. And the bucket and plywood does a great job. A little shorter ply wood with some metal edges would help from breaking. Great comparisons. Have a great Sunday.

Good mock up for testing/ proof of concept purposes. Definitely faster with the pusher but $1000 faster? I have a pallet attachment and I wonder if I take the forks off if I could weld something up? Add it to the list of things to do. Great channel and thanks for sharing. Cheers, Mike. PS congrats on the < 1000 subscribers

Just put a couple of bolt on skids on the bucket and you'll solve the problem of it digging in. You could also put one of those boards on the face of the bucket to keep the snow mostly "outside" the bucketnto minimize the dumping. I'm going to give this a shot this winter.
@BigGuyLittleTractor Жыл бұрын
Good luck with it! I use edge tamers most of the time when I do it. I think I had taken them off because I wanted to scrape things down a bit more. It works better with them on.

Does the BX have the brake that can be split or does it have the single peddle? If it has the split,peddle then split it and use the brakes to help steer

You still are going to need an angle blade. You will get to the point that you simply can not push it any further and the only thing you can do is to cut into it stair step fashion till you have some place to push the snow to.
@BigGuyLittleTractor2 жыл бұрын
For sure. Depends on the amount of snow you usually get though. I find the rear blade works pretty well to get things started.
