Live-ish. She’s lip syncing. No headset/ear buds, and that mic would be picking up dancing/guitar noise/sound. Guitarwise, unlikely she’s playing with a loud amp, so that’s prerecorded, too. Cool song, great recording, great performances on the recording. But live? No.

@@chrisjude8794 Absolutely lip-synched. Amp or DI is irrelevant. She has no earbuds/headset for monitoring. That means there are speakers in the room she is playing in; therefore, the sound coming out of those speakers would bleed into the mic; if it were a live mic. Everyone knows what a recording disaster that becomes. That greatly limits the control and quality of sound entering that mic. The recording, however, is impeccable. Clean, clear, mixed, compressed. No way that’s a live mic. And no way would she, or anyone professional, be monitoring a live, DI performance with vocals and guitar simultaneously, through small room speakers/monitors. Guitar, sure. Vocals? No way.

Label? I wish they were still relevant. Most times, they have artists sign a 360 deal, which might give them limited worldwide distribution, but since there are no physical media sales, most artists make more money doing it themselves. streams pay less than nothing, and most people simply stream their music. Even digital sales are garbage. Sophie makes good money on her socials. Live touring only pays in merch, all other Gains taken up by operating costs. The internet has really killed music. Technology has killed the skilled musician. Home recording, sampling, editing, time alignment, auto tuned vocals, all sterilized modern music to the point individuality, live, on the floor tracking, and the performance based skilled musician have all become relics. Even this track; she says it’s live. It’s not. It’s time aligned, tuned, mixed, mastered, edited. It’s a fine song. And she’s a good player. Sadly, like all things in the internet age, it’s prerecorded. Staged. Developed as a product for an audience with no attention span. Most internet musicians cannot reproduce anything live. Because they’ve never had to do so. You’re not gonna catch Sophie on a stage near you anytime soon. There’s no money in it for her. And, if it’s not perfect, if there’s even a hint of the real, she’ll be criticized to death by an audience who doesn’t understand what “live” truly is

@@officialWWM specifically- what do you disagree with? The state of labels? All my music is sold through an online distributor; no label. Do you disagree that modern music is shallow and sterile? Even i choose to track on the grid, because i don’t play drums, and have to write them, then humanize using AI. While i don’t tune my vocals, i do comp them now, as opposed to doing full takes- I’m too old for that shit. But it doesn’t change the fact that it’s now comp’ed, tuned, brick-walled and has had the life sucked out of it. Tell you what- go to Pond5. Pick ANY stock pop track. It will sound like EVERY track you hear on the pop side of Spotify. Why? Because it’s using the same beats. Same samples. Same , same, same. Sophie Burrell makes a good living at what she does. I’m glad she’s branched out into having a “band”. This doesn’t change the fact she’s as much musician as she is film maker, stylist. Ad executive, promoter, editor, director, merchandiser, and producer. She doesn’t need a label. No one does. And, the days when a band can just get on stage and focus their craft IS gone. The pressure to be all things all at once is immense. Yeah. Music is dead. It’s been replaced by a product. One for a 2 minute attention span. And, hey. That’s fine. I’m not gatekeeping here. Just stating an opinion. Most bands that tour the world are either huge pop productions, or old timers. Modern bands will do fly dates for a festival, but that’s it. Back onto their socials to make real money. Sell merch.

Dear Bxrrell - I love this song. I can really groove to it - and it’s cool to hear a chill rock song like this; it’s got a great beat to dance or chill to. Great lyrics and definitely delivered with vocals that are soothing and mix well with what is being said. Some people are all talk, no action - it really is frustrating and I love how this song really emotes what it feels like to be disappointed and basically done with someone’s crap. it kind of reminds me of a great song to relax and get into while I’m having a drink and waiting for my food - or if I’m cooking and enjoying time with my son. The vocals and instruments sound so great. I just love that smoldering slow rock with the smoky guitars & bass and the super silky singing that’s emotional and captures the essence of the song. What a great band, I’m having fun getting into Bxrrell. Every band member gets way into it - great performance all the way around - very moody and cool! You all rock 🤘you are legit. I am impressed

CONFESSION TIME: Sometimes I forget to be so amazed at how professional this group sounds. It's easy to get caught up in the music and neglect to take note of the clean, professional, crisp mix of the various instruments. It's not enough these days to have a group of excellent musicians who can work together. But to reach this level with the resulting sound is truly rare and beyond admirable. And that's to say nothing of the almost magical things Sophie can do to a pair of shorts!
