I feel like a better option is to get 2 standalone portable monitors (which together are probably cheaper than $400) and just position them on either side of your laptop. That offers far more flexibility and fulfils the same goals. Personally, it feels like the novelty of this setup with the screens being attached to either side feels like a gimmick (and you can't even rotate the side monitors backwards and forwards (only in and out appears possible).
