This reminds me a bit of Avalon Hill's Raid on St. Nazaire. at least the part about approaching a defended port, trying to avoid detection, searchlights, etc.

Oh, interesting! I'll have to take a look at that one, thanks. I'm not familiar with it. Come to think of it, this might be the first "commando raid" style game I've played. I'm not sure there are many others out there like it?

I think the first mission is the hardest, potentially, and the custom campaign feels particularly challenging because of the crew skill upgrades, but we'll do our best! :)

What started out as a dire looking situation having lost SL3 they managed to turn it around sinking a ship and SL1 making it home. Even though SL2 was scuttled at least the crew are alive so overall a great comeback. Man oh man loving this series

I'm very excited to play the second mission. I think once you can get your SLCs submerged and moving forward things get a bit easier. It's those broken SLCs at the start of the mission on the surface that really make it hard. If we could just sink a nice fat ship we'd be rolling in VPs and then some good things could happen. :)

The custom campaign feels quite a bit more challenging than the Historical Campaign. I think the Historical Campaign would probably be a good starting point, but we've jumped right into the deep end! Pardon the pun! :)

Yes, those 3 VPs are huge because they gave us 4 for the mission which means we can upgrade a tech for the next mission. I think that'll help a lot as we go forward. There are some things we can do to help our crews survive better too. Getting crews with upgraded skills feels very important, but that might be the hardest element of the custom campaign. We'll see!

Excellent second episode and a successful mission after what looked like an almost impossible win. Looking forward to episode three and hopefully purchasing the game myself. Finished The Hunters at the weekend. Sunk on the penultimate transit box June 43 by an aircraft I could not escape from.

Thanks coyi! I'm really looking forward to the second mission, I'm not sure it's going to get that much easier for us but we'll see! Oh, that sounds painful on your The Hunters series! June 43 is getting so close to the end. But on the whole it must have been a good campaign if you got that far.

Woot! Reported for duty! I just wanted to point out my qualifications. I've changed many batteries in my day, except for the TV remote which was lost. I am great with tools, especially a cheese grader and a mallet so repairing is never a problem. I'm very experienced with transmission problems, probably paid for two or three over the years. I enjoyed the episode. I thought SLCTeam 1 was toast in the first stage of the mission. This looks like a good game. It was on my list but I might switch it to my short list and buy it soon.

Hi Wild Ape! Your application has been accepted, and you're in the reserves waiting for call up. Our recruitment department were especially excited about the chess grader skills, for some reason they thought that skill was quite rare and could come in very handy for the pre-mission buffets! All that needs to happen is for a few of your fellow operators to not return from missions and you'll be in action in no time! :)

@@ZillaBlitz That is a better list than the one Santa had for me. I did get some coal for Christmas which might be handy for the crews. Consider making me the cook. I could put my deep fry skills I learned from the great chef Al Dente to good use. He was handy with a cheese grader too! I'm thinking I could help morale out as a cook. The first mission could be fish sticks with mozzarella cheese and marinara dipping sauce. I could also the crews with the theme from Rocky that I could play on my kazoo when. Dessert for the survivors! Don't say no, just think about it!

Good to see the rolls level out. It is still a bit odd to me for some of the goals and victory conditions.

I suspect the "get into the harbor" to gain an experience point is to prevent players from simply scuttling their crafts to level up otherwise. And with how frequently things break, it's certainly an accomplishment to make it inside the harbor. :) I'm curious to see how things progress as we get further into the campaign. :)

Looks like an interesting (if dangerous) game. How long would you say it takes, just to play it without having to set up camera stuff?

I think 20-30 minutes per mission once you get the rules and flow down feels about right, maybe faster once you get all the SLC moves memorized? Set up can take a few minutes to find the correct British ships, but if you don't care about getting the ship names right, maybe 10 minutes?

That's funny, it didn't feel that bad to me. I'll have to watch this again. I mean, we missed most of our repair rolls, but they were all 6s, so I wasn't expecting much. It would have been nice to see SLC3 recover and not die so easily, but ... Yeah, maybe there was some bad luck involved there.

Yeah, I can't imagine how brave these guys were, going off with equipment that didn't work into enemy harbors straddling torpedoes. No way I'd do that. :)
