Halo, Indonesian here. I'm glad to see that our cultural heritage (Batik fabric) is spread until the Caribbean and more interestingly, they developed it's own motive based on St. Kitts & Nevis context. That's a very a good idea.

That it still has a functioning railway is why the title is apt. There are more searches for _Caribbean_ than there are for Saint Kitts.

@05:00 an 0-6-0 outside frame Loco is a sweet thing to see, better if it was a steam version, but I'll still take it😛 originally built in Romania. And of course, running cab forward is the smart thing to do. Does the rail line use wooden ties(sleepers) or concrete replacements now? The Railroad is 30" gauge/ 762mm which this video failed to provide and gets a thumb down for it. Or maybe the gauge is 750mm or 780mm, Wikipedia conflicts between the locomotive builder and the railway itself, conversion maybe? St. Kits Railway has 3 of these Loco's. Phillipe needs a more economical vehicle to drive in order to race ahead and close crossing gates, and also emergency flashing lights on it. This video was really lacking in detail about the railroad itself and some other facts they did not include is that it is 29 Km long/18 miles. It would be nice to know the height of each of the 3 bridges and lengths. Maybe DW can get a better expert on railways to start hosting these types of documentaries.

We have ASTRONOMICAL WEALTH in the US, and we can't give our Carribean allies a couple new trains, tractors, trucks, tools, farming equipment, etc.🤷🏽♂ I just don't get it sometimes, people and countries who have more than enough...can't find the logic and reasoning to share the more than!"🤦🏾♂😤😔

If you see condescending stereotypes in this video then that's due to your own personal biases, I don't see any.

@@Betweoxwitegan I am in the Caribbean right this second . Went to school, both primary and secondary school in the Caribbean. My parents both of them are from the Caribbean. I know the Caribbean people very well and unfortunately I also know the belittling, condescending and virtue signalling tropes and narrative the so called western countries have been pushing through these so called documentaries for decades now. Nice try.
@Betweoxwitegan3 ай бұрын
@@methodmaster2399 What are you on about? You see a short video on a few people in a small Caribbean nation and because of your own biases on how those people should act, you assume it was "western" media that influenced the footage to fit a narrative of what exactly? Racial discrimination and condescending virtue signalling? I could honestly say us "westerners" couldn't give two fucks and quite honestly this "documentary" was a waste of time and quite pointless, it was probably a way for the team to get a vacation whilst deducting taxes in all honesty 😂 I know that in some media documentaries and channels they make places seem different from how they are in reality, like in Africa or South America focussing on excessively poor regions and communities but this isn't necessarily bad as long as the viewer knows that, it shows extremified inequality. I think typically if one looks bad or a country looks bad that's probably because they/it are bad. Get out of the phase "west=bad" I agree that western powers have disproportionately exploited the global south and poor resource rich territories for centuries using slavery (predominantly) and that neo-slavery and systemic racism exists but I don't see it in this video. Often in less developed countries external media sources and powers will use public perception to fuel further exploitation of that country's resources, like during the Iraq war, etc. But again I don't see that here and Saint Kitts doesn't have significant natural resources or geopolitical significance.

@@BetweoxwiteganThat's quite the diatribe, but you are ignoring nuance and perspective. As well as diminishing the experience of people you don't seem to be able to relate to. You should read Frantz Fanon and Edward Said sometime... Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it is not distorting the subconscious negatively.
