Looks like BYD has a very nice and competitive car with the Seal. They also have a range of cars at lower price points, in China at least. Their sales are growing even faster than Tesla, so BYD is clearly a company to pay attention to.

comparing to Tesla Model 3 even the RWD, BYD is to expensive and way to low charging speed! Software is still buggy... if you like a care which bugs you with beeps: buy chinese 🤣. Bad efficiency too

A colleague just got the Atto 3 and he's really happy with it. We went for a spin and i was really impressed, although the design wasnt really my cup of tea. Im so glad that the Seal is coming out and I think Im going for it. There isnt anything that i dont like about this car! First time going electric, hopefully it would be a nice experience...

I own an ATTO 3. By far, i am happy with its overall performance, especially its safety features. When i am waiting inside my car near the houses of other people while leaving the air con on, no one in the area would frown on me for toxic exhaust gas and noise.

Would love to hear some feedback on the thermal insulation with the glass Panoramic roof? - I live in Australia, summers are really hot here. Considering the Seal but I am worried how hot it will get inside with no closable shade under the panoramic sun roof?

The base BYD Seal comes with an alu roof (so you have a choice there).

​@@newbrisJust visited the BYD showroom here in Brisbane. They mentioned we will be able to get the foldable sun shade for the glass roof. Just slide it on and it should be alright in the Aussie summer. Didn't confirm if that will be an extra amount, or will be included with the vehicle.

@@mspalmboy not for the Byd seal sold in Denmark. Danish text from Byd home side. BYD SEAL. 16,6-18,2 kWh/100km. Rækkevidde*: 520-570 km. Opladningstid under optimale ladeforhold v/ normalopladning 10-100%: 7 t og 30 min. v. max ladeeffekt 11 kW. Hurtig-/lynopladning, 30-80%: ca. 26 min v. max ladeeffekt på 150 kW.

Please review the SEAL U when you can get it. That one is not about speed I think it would make a great Taxi. Maybe compare with the entry level MODEL Y which paradoxically the Made In Germany entry level MODEL Y has a BYD Blade Battery also. Except TESLA insisted they make some alterations to achieve higher charging speeds.

The interior seems to be much improved (Europanized?) compared to the Chinese version. It had too much sea inspired design things. But still a lot of shiny surfaces. I found the center of the wheel was like a mirror for my face, which was VERY annoying.

I must be the only one who doesnt agree with the exterior design of this car. it was love at first sight. i was ready to buy but then i saw it up close and at length at the dealership and was let down. the interior though is top notch.

ACTUALLY I AM TOSSING UP BETWEEN BYD VS MODEL 3. ONE SIDE TESLA HAS PROVEN THE RELIABILITY BUT BYD NOT SURE AND I HAVE TO USE FOR UBER. IF THERE WAS NO BYD SEAL IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EASY DECISION FOR ME TO BUY TESLA MODEL 3. I LIKE THE DRIVING OF MODEL 3 BETTER BUT SEAL GOT BETTER INTERIOR FOR ME AS IT GOT LOTS OF BUTTONS AND STALKS AND AROUND 70 to 80 KM RANGE BUT I AM NOT SURE SEAL WILL BE RELIABLE IN LONG TERM OR NOT. ANY BODY HAVE LONG TERM EXPERIENCE WITH BYD?

I suspect that the Seal is the best compact sedan in the world, but the best part is to be able to buy such a car that does not come from the annoying guy.

Why the best? Model 3 Highlander has better range, better effiency, better infotainment system/software, Sentrymode, the best heatpump system, better safety, better built to withstand a crash for instance, better trunk and frunkspace, better and frequent updates, much better soundsystem and probably better roadhandling+++ Byd is indeed nice, and have HUD, nicer interior ( subjective, I prefer Teslas simplisticy) and maybe Byd have safer batteries..(Tesla will use Byd batteries soon, or maybe they started already).

Anyway, “the best in the world” is an overstatement. 😅 I don’t think BYD has ever claimed to be so, judging from their humble attitude of ever striving to move on and forward, even in headwinds. May we wish them well in their untiring journey, along with other green automobiles makers.🎉

i have driven one, its a perfect car , except that the climasystem is very very noisy and takes all the pleasure away because of the noice….the climate system stinks

I love BYD but there are some issues versus say ZEEKR, XPENG and NIO. BYD has no infrastructure in Europe (they are building a lot in Latin America) and they have never invested in charging infrastructure anywhere. In China, ZEEKR and XPENG have charging infrastructure and NIO has both charging and swapping. ZEEKR, XPENG and NIO all have European connections and ZEEKR has European family in VOLVO and POLESTAR but BYD has no relatives in Europe.

the charging network of zeekr xpeng and nio are negligible compared to the third party network especially the state power charging network. honestly it is a waste of resource for each brand to build its own charging network. the way forward is that there will be the exxon the bp the total of charging brands, seperate from automakers.

@@qilu2004 Wrong. NIO did a survey to find out who are using their charging stations and they found of the NON NIO cars TESLA and BYD owners were the top customers. All three brands have major charging expansion in the works and NIO has put chargers in very remote areas of the country where there is little or no public infrastructure. Also public chargers tend to be much slower while the brand chargers offer high end charging speed.

@@honesty_-no9he that is exactly my point. ev drivers do NOT care whose charging stations they go. they just go to the most convenient one around them. there is no brand loyalty and there shouldn't be. there are so many more byd and tesla cars on the road compared to nio, of course they are the primary user of nio stations. Nio has fewer than 40k public chargers in china. Tesla has about 20k. Three major third party charging networks, Telaidian, Star, Cloud, each has 400-500k public chargers. And then there is the state power network. it makes no sense for Nio or any other automakers to get in this business. they are peanuts in the whole market. On all of these networks, there are more byd and tesla users than nio, because they sell more cars than nio. a LOT more. and nio users use non nio chargers more often than nio chargers too! the management team at Nio is a bunch of incompetent knucleheads. they cannot get the main job done so they keep doing nonsense so that they have talking points.

In China it has an 800 volt architecture. I think they decided that they did not want the complaints people have in other parts of the world with the Korean cars that boast 800volts then get worse charging on 400 to 600 volts charging stations. 800 volts is a double edged sword.

European electric cars are way too expensive. We need small, simple, cheap electric cars for urban commuting, but we get big, heavy, expensive cars with patetic range and huge wheels.

​@hardywoodaway9912 "Vegan leather" is a hoax. Real leather is sustainable, it is organic. No issue with the ecosystem as it wears. Vegan leather is usually based on some oil materials, ends up as microplastic as it wears. Vegan fanatics have no clue. Real leather may have issues with tanning process (ftalat and bromide) and water consumption, but serious car manufacturers have full control.

I can clearly say that Europe's automobiles are finished, just like Nokia or Blackberry. Ironically, they underestimated their competitors and did not believe in this transformation, but they will not have a brand that can survive except the last few brands.

Depends on how you judge it. In terms of quality on cars for the middle class I'm sure german buyers have higher expectations than chinese customers. In terms of overall sale numbers and maybe also expectations of the upper crust, china may be leading.

Not necessairly, but it needs less space, what makes a lower roofline possible, which means less frontal area => less drag => less consumption => more range ...and it's a feature many people like and therefore are willing to pay more or at least judge it as "nice to have"-feature

byd has an oem shade for the seal. it IS a lot cheaper to install glass roof and that is why automakers use it more and more. space is another reason but cost is the main driver.

what car can u get with 5k euro nowadays? a golf cart costs more than that. a motorbike costs more than that. maybe a beat up 10 year old toyota can be had for 5k but what decent men want that?

Bit dodgy reviewing any Chinese car currently, with the EU and other European governments now investigating the Chinese government for illegally subsidising their products. We know they've done this with tech and home appliances for brand pushes into peoples homes, but it is squarely unfair competition, which isnt allowed in China because they protect their domestic brands an order of magnitude more than the Americans or Europeans do.

BYD is a huge brand that produces the world's largest automotive and battery products with many different sub-brands. The reason why Westerners do not know this brand is due to the embargo imposed by your governments to prevent them from entering their markets, but times have changed and they produce vehicles that are at least as high quality as European brands.
