Bass tuba is capable for this But Ravel wrote for 6 - pistons euphonium/ French Tuba ( all cycle, not only Bydlo)

I will always say that F tuba is the best instrument for the solo, but darn it, you better come ready to play! xD

The conductor took it way to fast, almost felt that the tuba player was uncomfortable. As a tubist, I would play this at a much slower tempo than the recording mainly to let my tuba sing and to let the high notes ring out a bit more

@@joemcle6521 Oh definitely, you gotta let some of those notes ring! But yeah, I think he’s a great player, just probably a combo of both being nervous and the conductor going too fast
