Bygone Boats

Scenes of Newport Harbour and along the River Medina to West Cowes. Taken from 8mm film taken by the late Bert Bishop in the 1950's. Includes unique footage of the Princess Flying Boats at West Cowes and scenes of working life around Newport Harbour and the Medina River of British Road Services.
In colour with musical soundtrack, includes a "then and now sequence".

Brilliant for reviving memories. I remember seeing the Princesses cocooned on the hard standing outside Saro’s hanger and the BRS boats when I was taken to IOW for holidays in the early 50s. I also remember the paddle ferries, the only one I’m sure I sailed in was Ryde. Later I travelled on all 3 of Denny’s diesel boats. That was during the late 60s. Thanks for briefly allowing a return to childhood.
