Was about to replace coworkers compressor until I found no refrigerant in the system, did this trick for him and saved him $500. For Canadians NAPA has the same belt available [060825] worked perfect. Thanks!

Thank you for posing this. My A/C froze up and broke the belt so I could go nowhere at all. This saved me a tow and compressor replacement and I could do the whole project in a parking lot.

First off I'd like to say thanks for giving me the idea for a quick fix instead of buying a $375 compressor. The only thing I would add is that the coolant and windshield wiper reservoir have 3 additional screws not mentioned in this video. The are located underneath the reservoirs. Two of them are T20 torx and the other takes a 5/16 socket. We had to take the battery and air filter out to make it easier to get them. Other than that it worked great. Thanks again

08 Nitro 3.7 the pulley and clutch were bad and knocking(on the compressor). Used the Value craft belt 825k6 $30 seems to be working great. Spent 30 bucks. Hardest part is getting the belt back on, as I couldn't find my serpentine tool to get some torque. My compressor wasn't working anyway, and there was no refrigerant in the system, otherwise id definitely purge first. Thanks for the video

If I take the pulley and clutch off, will the belt still clear the compressor??? I believe my compressor is still good and I don't want to mess it up by taking it off completely especially if I can replace the clutch and pulley at a later date...
@930dubn8 жыл бұрын
my 2 cents after being 4 hours from home today and the a.c. bearing going out... 82.5" - 6 rib serpentine belt. I was in a hurry so I did not remove the entire compressor, but simply the pulley and bearing. only took a 10mm socket and snap ring plier. I was not able to pull off the magnetic coil with my limited tools, but there was about 2mm of clearance from rubbing the belt. thanks to everyone online who posted the belt length.

On detaching hoses and the pressure , how can I depressurize it without fancy tools. I just need to get it off. I doubt it's going to send the compressor flying into space.

May be a dumb question. What exactly does this do. My AC went out (blowing hot air) in my 2007 Nitro and I was told I need a new compressor. Will this allow it to work and blow cool air?
@DCxALBRECHT7 жыл бұрын
P Davis this allows you to bypass an AC compressor in your vehicle. No AC compressor = no AC
@DCxALBRECHT7 жыл бұрын
P Davis buying a new AC compressor and using it to replace your broken one will potentially allow your vehicle to blow cold air again. Be sure to get your AC lines charged or pressurized with freon from a professional.

Perfect Colt. I'll make sure first. I take it this is the less expensive way in comparison to replacing the compressor and the condenser? Much less??Replacing these 2 things is around $500. in parts. Than labour on top.
@DCxALBRECHT7 жыл бұрын
Carol H yes it is an affordable method to bypass the AC compressor. I still have my belt running strong and it's been close to a year since I put it on.
