I rarely comment, but I just have to say people like you make the world a better place. A repairman that shares his information freely and extremely clearly. I also had to laugh about the comments on government... not that I endorse wasting water (nor did I take that you were), but that we can make these decisions on our own of when and where it's necessary to save water. If you have to run another rinse to finish your clothes, you're not saving any water (and also end up using more power). I have an LG top loader High Efficiency (supposed) washer that doesn't use enough water during wash or rinse. It seems a lot more high tech than this model, but I'm hoping this knowledge will give me a good place to start. Thank you for sharing! Great attitude. I wish I knew a local repairman such as yourself.

The comments about the government were truly hilarious!!! I just bought this admiral washing machine (used), and couldn't figure out what was with the rinse level. I looked everywhere trying to figure out why it wouldn't fill. I was having to play with the cycle of wash just to get it to fill with enough water to rinse. Well thanks to you I'm going to see if this stupid machine has that switch that I can adjust to get a full water rinse on my machine. Thank you very much and yes the damn government shouldn't have anything to do with washing machines. Put simply, you can't even put a small load in the washer and get them clean with the amount of water that the government decided to set for us dummies. The government should spend more time feeding our hungry and defending us against threats instead right? Thank you my friend.

I wish I would gave seen this video a few years ago...I gave away a year old washer that I hated because of the fill level on the rinse (I would have to catch it....switch it back to wash to get it to fill up - then back to rinse)...as well, the timer was not connected with the lid....so lifting the lid would not stop it running thru if I wandered off waiting for the water level to get high enough to add liquid softener....I wasted more water with that thing. I bought a house that had an old washer in it...but one that filled properly, and would not move on to the next cycle if the lid was up.....so I gladly gave away the new one thinking it was defective.....I should have know that the nanny state was watching over me! As a biochemist, this low water mandate AND the hot water restriction which does not allow hot water from the ATC, has caused an increase in childhood asthma and infections and skin disorders because hot water over 140° is no longer allowed for hot washes. Bedding must be washed in hot for proper health and hygiene. Because of that, dust mites are not killed (because the ATC regulator does not allow hot water over 140°), and are also not washed or rinsed out of the bedding (because of low water restrictions.) For those that line dry, or for those that don't use the high setting on the dryer for over 20 minutes, (and most don't because sheet's instructions say not to dry on high), dust mites are not killed, and their fecal matter remain on the bedding and are causing serious health issues. When the government regulates an appliance completely out of its intended function, and in this case a washing machine's ability to clean clothes, they have lost all sense of reason.

Mr Samurai, thank you so much for helping a low intelligence consumer LOL. Without water to rinse it's no wonder people complain. Also I don't like wearing clothes that still have soap in them. Great video. My brother in law has one of the early Maytag HE Sensor washers that like all of the new Maytag washers currently uses very little water, makes horrible grinding and squeaking noises, and really does not clean the clothes. Is there a way to re-configure that one also? He is so angry about the money he spent on this albatross and does not know what to do. I am an electrician so if you had a how-to video I could do it.
@cristieofthesouthernisles56358 жыл бұрын
I wondered if that would work on a Maytag Centennial. I hate it. There is no soak option. It won't fill until the lid is locked, so you can't see what the water level is, but it's apparent that anything large only gets half clean. And what about front loaders? I'm looking at getting one of those next since my current 'washer with a brain' is having problems.
@duanebartlett48855 жыл бұрын
Thank you brother for sharing your knowledge! My washer hs been driving me nuts because of this problem. It washes ok with the water level set at high for our typical full load of laundry but then the rinse water only fills it to such a low level of water that you cant even see the water under the clothes! It then attempts to rinse the clothes by rapid back and forth agitations which do absolutely nothing but waste electricity. The wash usually comes out with gobs of white lint stuck to dark clothing which makes the clothing unwearable unless its washed again. It got so bad I stopped rinsing the clothes and went directly to the spin cycle after the wash. I will try to do what you suggest. Its an Inglis top loader made by Whirlpool. Again, thanks very much!

Thanks so much for the video! I want to do this hack on my machine (definitely needs a little more water), but I am concerned it may damage the machine in some way or void the warranty? Any thoughts? I saw one video that said some machines operate the cycles on a timer and that perhaps the rinse/drain cycles may not sync up with the amount of water in the drum if there is more water in the drum that what it is calibrated for (he didn't really explain himself well, just said something about how they run on timers and adjusting the water level may create problems). If there is no major risk of screwing up the machine I would definitely do this.

In my area (los angleles), there was a $375 rebate from two utilities that can be applied to my new LG front loader. When I got it home, I could not see any free standing water when washing clothes. Large utility companies and government agencies are constrained by how much water is available for all uses, and are not concerned with how clean or fresh smelling any one individual household's clothes are getting. Companies such as LG will sell more washers when they comply with the energy saver requirements because consumers are strongly attracted to these large rebates. Since these incentives are so strong, I don't even know if there are choices without energy star which clean better because they use a little more water. Your choice will be to buy an older used machine, or if empowered , modify the pressure/level sensors on the new machines. Everyone in this scenario is trying to optimize from their own viewpoint. Unfortunately the consumer is not very good at trading off cost against good basic function. We are often wowed by all the features, and the belief in saving the environment. My machine uses much less water, but compensates by having longer agitation cycles that typically take way over an hour; more than 2x what my old front loader took. This nullifies the advantage of the new washer's larger tub, because I can do fewer loads per day. The greatest benefit of my new LG is that the higher spin speed does a much better job of wringing the water out, and reduces my dry time by a lot.
@UpRoaryus5 жыл бұрын
I don't care how much water is conserved by my stupid machine that never gets clothes WET nevermind CLEAN. I really hate that the cycles take so long to complete because it ALWAYS needs the extra rinse, and the QUICK cycle is 45 minutes without it!! What is this doing to my ELECTRIC bill when the washer is churning the whole day long?? So frustrating that I have to spend so much time and energy outsmarting my appliances to make them function properly. I have taken to making a mess by hosing water into the drum after the cycle starts through the detergent drawer to the point that I can SEE some water mixing with the clothes just to get them clean in one cycle!
