Ben Gorham
A native Swede, born to an Indian mother and a Canadian father, Ben grew up in Toronto, New York and Stockholm. He graduated from the Stockholm art school with a degree in fine arts, but a chance meeting with perfumer Pierre Wulff convinced him that he'd rather create fragrances than paintings. With no formal training in the field, Gorham, 31 years old , sought out the services of world renowned perfumers Olivia Giacobetti and Jerome Epinette, explaining his olfactory desires and letting them create the compositions. As an outsider in the beauty industry, Ben is somewhat of an anomaly and has been recognized for his personal style and connection to fashion and art in several international magazines such as French Vogue, Vanity Fair, Elle, V Magazine and Fantastic Man to name a few.

Bal D’Afrique is definitely a top seller for a reason. To me it smells like a fresh clean towel you’d find in a 5 star hotel bathroom, and it’s so incredibly comforting. I still have yet to get my hands on eleventh hour but I do love Sundazed as well, it’s one of my favorites since I love citrus like no other

My parents both wear Rose of No Man's Land as their couple scent. It's totally unisex and the depth of it keeps me sniffing trying to figure it out, and I keep getting compliments when I sneak a spray from my parents' bottle. It's such a complex scent, and I definitely love it 1000% more than the Baccarat Rouge my dad got me.

I tried the Super Cedar fragrance from a friend and ohhhhh I had to have it because it smells damn nice. I kind of agree with you when you indicated that the longevity of the fragrance is only about 5-6 hours.

Absolutely. Some of Byredo offerings will project, but you're not gonna get beastmode performance or super long longevity. Depends of your plans. Sometimes I don't need a fragrance for more than 6 hours. In instances like that, Byredo is excellent 👌🏾👍🏾

Hey girlie! My day was all thrown off because I wasn't able to catch the premiere but I got my fix in the wee hours of the morning when I should be asleep....I'm not a Byredo girl, However, I did just purchase Bal d' afrique and I fell in love on first whiff. Now that I know the back story (which I love knowing the inspiration of a scent), I do need to purchase the body creme so she lasts a little longer on my skin. I'm going to purchase Rein DeNuit next because that fragrance was simply stunning and I feel like that dark juice will project and hang around a little longer. I'm definitely not a tobacco fan but Tobacco Mandarin is stunning, The tobacco is very light which adds enough intrigue and depth to the scent in my opinion.

I own only Bal d'Afrique and it's a beautiful fragrance. I was waiting for the warm season to wear it 😊 I have few samples (Blanche, Gipsy water, Mojave ghost, Pulp, Slow dance and Sunday cologne). You know which is the problem with those perfumes? I love them all 😅 Blanche has that clean fresh laundry smell that I probably don't like too much on my skin but I love on my clothes. My second choise will be probably Sunday Cologne, a gorgeous citrucy, spicy, aromatic scent. Star Anice and Incense are so beautiful. And the wishlist grows and grows and grows 😂

Just a bit of advice as someone in healthcare if you can deal with it drying a bit longer 70% alcohol is always better to get because it actually is better at disinfecting than higher concentrations! Also an antimicrobial spray by Cleansmart is a great option too they make formulations for everything including hand sanitizing and they're alcohol free!

I grew up in Italy and in summer we used to have so much fruit in my house that we would buy in bulk or that our neighbors with gardens would gift us because it was starting to ripen too much and we would put it in this little balcony and Pulp smells just like the air of that balcony, ripened type of sweetness, fresh but sour, the peach flower in the fragrance drives me even crazier though because it smells like Esthate, an Italian peach ice tea with a VERY strong floral flavor, when I sprayed Pulp in a Paris Byredo store, it was love at first sniff, my signature scent ever since, I've never found a fruity fragrance that lasts days on clothes like an oud and this one does it! the only con of the brand is that their fragrances are just too unique to blind buy as you said :( great review! I'm eyeing Bal d'afrique as a gift for someone

Hi Mato. I don't own that one. However I can tell you that fragrance is subjective and performes differently on everyone. Layer your fragrances with body creams, over spray and spray your clothes. Decant and retouch if you have to. Don't miss out on an amazing fragrance just because someone says it doesn't perform well on them. They probably didn't spray correctly. Hope that helps ❤💞

Wearing Mojave Ghost hair perfume today. I don’t know what I was thinking getting the smaller bottle of Sundazed bc I love it. I did manage to get the hand cream when it was available but procrastinated too long on the hair perfume. I don’t know why those items were limited edition. They should bring them back seasonally at least.

I just recently purchased the hand cream for Mojave Ghost. It was a blind buy. I wished I had started with Flowerhead, Bal D’Afrique, or Pulp. Eleventh Hour has some of my favorite fragrance notes. TFS 💞
