@@AirgunAlley Hi, I hope you're ok. Do you think you could get a Vesta PDW50 or the Umarex Hdp 50 (I think the Vesta is more powerful) it seems to me that they are more powerful than the HDR 68, used for personal defense, I am between those options or a Byrna SD but it seems to me that the .50 calibers are better. It would also be recommended to use steel projectiles, since when they hit the object they do not bounce like rubber ones, they can pierce vehicle windows without any problem. If I'm not mistaken, the Vesta is the most powerful out of the box, other than that they can be modified. Thank you.

Great demo of the two. Both would put the hurt on at 15 feet. I prefer the Byrna because it's easier to conceal for EDC and its mag holds seven shots. I wouldn't want to be hit by either weapon. You shooting range 3.0 has come a long way since you started. Your airgun and PCP evolution has been very helpful in providing the end user with lots of consumer information. Thank you Gian for giving a direct comparison for us at your new place. The Gnomes don't disappoint! Jokes aside, as ScaredyCatTV mentioned, the Byrna is a great carry option as the compact nature is more comfortable for EDC and the pull-pierce-fire is very handy in situations outside when you have very little reaction time. The HDR68 is better overall for home and places where you have the moment to bump-charge it before putting it to work, and the higher energy will do good LTL work for home before resorting to lethal. Of course, the HDR68 is a bit too big for on-body carry, so there are trade offs between the two. Finally, I do like your new place and the distance markers you've made at the range. Keep up the good work!

Just ordered the Byrna LE in orange (black looks too much like a real pistol imo) and as a concealed option it's the better of the two, of course if you want to go full on Dirty Harry style then the HDR 68 it is. May just get one for that reason, "Do you feel lucky punk"!

I'm surprised they haven't come up with an air pistol that when you pull the slide back it punctures the tank. It would give you plenty of Leverage.
@lordgarion514 Жыл бұрын
What would be the point though? It would have to be more complicated than hitting the knob on the bottom, and a LOT slower to do than just pulling the trigger. A neat trick, but on a self defense air gun, it would make it take longer to be able to use the gun. The revolver is a horror choice for self defense carry specifically because of how. Long it would take activate the CO2.

Thank you very much for all your testing. I believe the main advantage with the Byrna pistol is being able to draw and fire the same as a firearm. Obviously you wouldn't have the same power as a firearm. However, that ability could make the difference between life or death. I'm not aware of any other Less lethal pistols on the market that can make that claim. I'm referring directly to the ability to puncture the CO2 cartridge AND fire. Also, I've mentioned the following in other settings concerning the colors of launchers. If your state requires your launcher to be a vibrant color then so be it. However, if you can choose the color I would choose a color more typical of a firearm. Pointing or displaying what appears to be a toy could cause problems that you wouldn't encounter otherwise. Have you noticed actual firearms available in vibrant colors as well? Being a vibrant color doesn't mean it is not a firearm. Law enforcement does not have the luxury of determining the threat because of the color. Please be safe.

I was just thinking about something with regards to shooting cans. At Harbor Freight Tools, they have magnets for around $5 with like 90 pound force. They're in metal bases, and with a hole in the middle for attaching with a screw. If you attach one of these to a board, and clamp it down to the table, it might hold those tin can targets in place pretty well.

Desde 🇵🇹 Portugal 🇵🇹 👍 Congratulations on the new facilities. I honestly think that the Amurex T4E HDR cal 68 is one of the best weapons made, it gives you the power to fire five shots, to fire practically anything you put in the revolver's barrel, Amurex would put a barrel extension on sale like it did with the younger sister the Umarex T4E HDR 50, so this weapon became a good five 🖐️ shotgun. The Byrna seems to be a good pistol to carry concealed, but Byrna prices here in Europe are very, very expensive... In addition, here in Europe we have a wide variety of tuning for Umarex products.

Great test, and excellent new setup. The Byrna light ammo at 2.8 - 3.0g is just too light for confident personal defense. That is the same weigh almost as .50 cal rubber steel balls. Might want to see what the two would do with aluminum, rubber steel S type, and Riot balls PVC 9.9 gram balls. The Byrna le chief assets is it is one of the best conceal carry options, because of its size and has decent power for the first three shots if activated in safe mode. A.A.M, kudos, no one does it better. .

No the what happens is the first shot comes out at half power as the gun is simultaneously piercing the valve and pushing the projectile thru the barrel. If you instead pierce the CO2 by pulling the trigger while the gun is on safe, then all shots will be full powered. I made a few recent videos that show it all

Check out Complete Technology Solutions. I believe his channel has addressed what you're speaking of. Umarex has apparently redesigned the valves for several of those launchers including the HDB. I am surprised every time I see your videos, the preparation, the work this time marking the feet away, the rigor, etc... They are the best test videos and in my country (Chile) the Byrna is worth 775 dollars, in in relation to the Umarex 68, which costs 250 dollars... Everything is more expensive here (watches, video game consoles, sneakers, etc.). Anyway, I think I have almost all the Umarex (HDS68, HDP50, TP50, HDR50 and HDR68)... and I am happy to know that the HDR 68 is almost on par with the Byrna that is so expensive here (and I don't have it, nor am I interested in having it, despite its advantages that the gas is activated with the trigger and it has 7 shots)... *Just one question* , why in my country, Chile, is the HDP50 worth twice as much as the HDR50? If the latter has a faster recharge because you only have to change the nut and both have 11 Joules from the factory? I have seen that apparently in other countries it is the other way around, but I don't understand why here the HDP50 costs twice as much... its advantage may be that it is more compact or the sights are bright... But I don't know what explanation there is... If anyone knows, your response is appreciated.

Hahaha well biased or not, you surely own the more powerful of the pair. So you’re good :) plus I’m not sure the Mrs would approve of the Byrna’s costs… Thank you as always for being there from the beginning… let’s see how many Airgun Alley versions there will be in the future 😬

Byrna Mission 4 rifle is still SOLD OUT!!! The Byrna LE is a little less powerful, but, it can fit in your pocket, behind your belt or in a holster and it will look like a proper gun. The MASSIVE hand cannon Umarex is more powerful, but, where the hell will you fit that thing? You might as we pistol whip the person instead of trying to pull it out of your backpack, activate it and then try to hold it with both hands... Not very practical. BTW, i like the home depot plywood design, it's basic, not computer drafted or 3D printed! Keep on shooting!

I have been carrying the HDR 50 4 about a year now the problem I have is is that it's very hard 2 conceal carry I've had 2 result 2 just keeping it in my bag I carry around because the HDR is so big.
@benjrgadgets722311 ай бұрын
For me the HDR 68 is the winner. For its price and the types of ammo i can use with it. Here in CA gun laws are stricter. We have to be careful in using our real gun powder guns in our home. Less Lethal is the alternative. But i still will carry my 1911. My only concern with HDR 68 is the 5 round limit of the circular magazine.

How many Joule increase by only removing the Restrictor from an HDR68 16 joule? Which is Better? Removing the Restrictor completely? Or Drilling a 1.5mm or 3mm hole in the Restrictor.

The Byrna holds 7 shots vs 5....Plus reloading with an extra clip much easier & faster... Having said that, if you need 14 shots then you're probably wishing you had a proper firearm. My Byrna is just to buy me time to get my 12 gauge.
@chaseventrillaquist6458 Жыл бұрын
The update and new range are awesome! I'm personally not a huge byrna fan, but both of those are hand cannons, and are a good comparison of available options. I wish they (ahem, Umarex) would make a .50 cal pistol that functions like the .43 t4e blowback line, with the c02 in the mag, but like 15 joules minimum out of the box. 6-7 rounds per mag, with new pistol models/designs. Badass video! Cheers from Indiana!

Thank you so so much my friend from Indiana!! I hope Umarex is listening, because those are some great ideas!

I was wondering if the hdr68 is actually a paint ball gun. Because in my efforts in trying to find a place to buy one, all the articles I come across calls this a paint ball gun. But some of those sites when digging into them says not to use paintball. So where do I get the correct answer for 68 caliber non lethal home deterrent?
@AirgunAlley11 ай бұрын
Hi, good question. The line is in the FPS or in the Joules, meaning that in paint-balling there is a limit in one or both of those measures. Anything over 7,5 joules (or around there) considered for “home defense”. Umarex makes various versions of their launchers. Always a 7,5 joules version of every model for paintball. Then, depending on the gun, they come in different versions: 16 joules, 40 joules…

The HDR does have great benefits but, having to just take off safety does have benefits in training in ease of use.

Well, do you have to use their brand of CO2 or what. I think for actually carrying around I will use the house brand, but practice with Crossman or whatever.

I'm sure you have a reason for using Umarex co2 in one and Byrna in the other gun but I don't get it there both 12 gram and both will work ether way so why because Byrna said so these are my thoughts Byrna wants 19.99 for 10 cartages Umarex co2 are 29.99 for 50 it's a no brainer for me no more then 10 dollars gets me 40 more cartages I'm not knocking you I'm just pointing that out anyway great video I really enjoyed it

I prefer the Byrna it’s smaller, has a higher magazine capacity, and the results were almost the same. Remember we’re not looking to kill people. We’re looking to provide a less lethal option. Delivering a chemical round to disable someone or a kinetic round which is non-lethal, and can deliver pain and offer compliance as a result is really what we’re looking for. It’s clear to me that if you change the projectile type, you may have an increased penetration, but with that comes a higher chance of causing bodily harm or death. The burner philosophy is my favorite. I own two other handguns. If I’m looking for a beast I’ll rely on those.
@stevendunn2645 ай бұрын
How is that less lethal?
@AirgunAlley5 ай бұрын
Well for starters they shoot at a very low power of around 16 joules (or 11 FPE) and they are powered by small CO2 canisters, meaning the projectiles don’t fly very far and certainly don’t sustain power over long distances. Hope this helps

Love the new range the printed distances really leaves no room for doubt. Depending on the how you intend to use your LL would be deciding factor here. Concealability or upgradeable power? The Hdr does have a much longer barrel which benefits co2 use….why hasnt somebody made a snub nose Hdr68 yet? Come on guys 😂
