Yeah, I'm the one actually playing and I'm totally up for giving advice. Ornstien and Smough are definitely the toughest boss I had to fight at SL1. They are mad weak to fire so the Fire Battle Axe +5 is your best bet. (You can POTENTIALLY have it at +10 but that's more work, mine was +5). I think I had the Ring of Favor and Protection and the silver knights armor on. As for advice for the fight; take it slow and watch their movements. Don't take any unnecessary risks. Took me 2 hours to beat.

Also are you using pyromancy? Greater Combustion is an excellent idea to spam when you get in a good position on the super version of whichever one you end up fighting. I don't believe I had the dark wood grain ring for this fight but that will also make it a hell of a lot easier. If you don't want to go through the trouble of getting it try to make your equip burden less than 25% for the best dodge. That will make a lot of difference.

The easiest way to get green titanite shards is to farm them from the slugs at the bottom of Blight town. (From the bonfire at the bottom, head left near the Great Hallow entrance.) If they drop green titanite, they'll have 5 on them. So you really only need two drops to have all that you need for getting it to +5. The other way is to just buy them from the giant blacksmith or the crestfallen merchant in Sen's Fortress.

Wow my english is terrible this morning. Anyway you'll get it eventually. I'd say this is the hardest boss in the game (albeit four kings is pretty tough too, and bed of chaos can just be a pain in the ass). See if you can get a couple bros helping you out, I think you mentioned having another friend who was helping you, see if you can't find someone else, or if all else fails, summon Solaire. He's on the staircase to the right, coming from the fog gate where O & S are. Good luck!

Quelaag's Furysword? I thought you were doing a level 1 run? But even if you aren't, the fire battle axe +5 is going to do more damage than a +2 furysword (especially without the 10 humanity boost). All you need for the axe is to get a regular battle axe (sold by andre the blacksmith for like 1000 souls) to +5 (which is really easy, he even sells the shards for 800 souls each, and you'll need 9 shards to get it from +0 to +5 at 200 souls per up grade, which means you'll need 9200 souls total.)

However, that's just getting a regular axe to +5. Now you need to make your way to the blacksmith in the catacombs (can't explain how to get there within 500 words on less google it for the time being if you don't already know). On the way down to him there will be green titanite shards you can pick up so you'll be able to at least ascend the thing to fire and any other blacksmith can upgrade it after it's at least ascended to fire. You need green titanite shards to upgrade the thing, 9 again.

Now as for strategy again, all I can really offer you is to reiterate what I said the first time; watch their movements and don't get too attack happy. Get a swing or two in, and then get the fuck out. If you're fighting large smough (or just regular smough) I don't advice trying to dodge the hammer rush, just block it, you don't take as much damage as you think you will. (he might chip a little bit off you, your stamina will go all the way down, but you don't have taken hardly any damage.)
