This is a video depicting the construction of my homemade virtual pinball cabinet. Although some details are omitted, I tried to include all steps with at least some detail. To my friends outside Canada, I refer to Canadian Tire store, meaning all items mentioned in this video can be purchased at your local hardware store.

I think Chris Leathley is close to genius being able to get the physics down so well when he created the software. Kudos to Chris!!

GothiicTemple I feel you on this,I really do but at the same time,this is the only affordable way to have multiple tables on a home budget. I will ALWAYS love true pinball,but this is a good idea and deserves our support.

Thanks for that and I totally agree. Real pinball machines are so so soooo much more fun than virtual, but virtual is still fun as well. Where I live, its impossible to get a real machine, but maybe one day.

Byron Wheeler Too true. I do not care how good virtual pinball becomes,you cannot replicate the actual ball in the playfield,the feel of the bumpers.the feel of the flippers,the actual plunger (or button),and the "english" when your shot goes astray. But this is a great MAME for pinball and I would love to have that someday.

Oh.....ok.....I found the files I needed that you were talking about. The problem is when I go and try to revert ( p s p u pdate ver. 6.60, it says no need!! I already have the latest 6.61 - and thats it! Nothing I can do!
@darkjames2010
@darkjames2010 8 жыл бұрын
the one i use keeps the 6.61 firmware and makes cfw over it. it does go away if your power off and on or lose power. but if you keep the file on your memory cards than reinstall is easy. i have the file in a Dropbox if you need it i can make the file share.

I totally love real pinball machines and in my opinion, pinball simulation is not near as fun as a real machine. With this being said, I still find pinball simulation very fun and worth playing and a preservation of nostalgia for me personally. What I hope will be developed in the not too distant future is 3d pinball simulation. Now that would be something!!!! :o) :o)

dmd's are usually with newer tables. If a DMD exists with a table, it is shown automatically on the backglass with the rest of thr backglass art. There isn't a need to set up a third screen for a dmd, as with visual pinball/pmame/pinmame

yes . . .I think in the near future, we'll see virtual pinball in 3D!!!! Now that would be bloody awesome!! The most thing I'm really missing is sometimes when the ball bounces off the bottom of the playfield glass.

personally, my favourite tables are the Stern tables from the early to mid 80's. I think these had just enough technology. I find a lot of games in later years had lots of gadgets on the playfield, but the game play wasn't there. It has to be a happy mix!! :o) Or maybe I'm just old school.

Very very nice Video and Pinball machine !!! Great work. I'am very interested in those home made machines (pinball,arcade/mame,...). Is it very expensive and difficult to build a machine like yours? Best regards from Germany Chris

Hey are there an many 'real' arcade type pinball games for the Emulator you are using? There are a few of those thing around Visual Pinball, VPinmame and they have AWESOME replicas of the real pinball games i remember playing on Yonge St in toronto in the 80s. I would love to make a cabinet and set it up like yours! Again awesome job... Cheers

I'll post a video I am 75% done with the build. The goal is to not pay for anything. The frame of the cab is an old metal bar stool, the glass in the cab and backglass are from old windows some lady was giving away, I used left over buttons from a mame build I did.. the best score was a dude on Craigslist gave me 2 dual core computers with ram and hard drives one had a 8800 GT in it.. been collecting parts for 2 years now I'm in the build stage..

No DMD. . .I didn't design the cab for DMD. DMD displays are used with the Visual Pinball emulator or PMame - isn't this correct? Not sure if the Future Pinball emulator can be configured to use a separate screen for DMD.

Hello, i'm very interested in this. Since I have an old pinball machine I was thinking about converting it. Where do I get the software that is capable of running the pinball table on one screen, while running the score and backglass on another? Is the software available to purchase or freeware. I've been wanting to do this for awhile, I first thought of it a few years back but lacked the time.
@SirFriedGoat

why would you want to do that? Zen pinball is terrible compared to the Williams and Bally tables of old.

If you were to buy all parts and materials from new, I would estimate $1200 american....give or take $100 (I'm not sure how expensive electronics and computers are in Germany). Just don't skimp on the video card. Get the best you can - and thanks! :o)

i dont think you understand the concept of video games lol just cuz its on virtual doesnt mean its not random, if youve played some VP/FP tables youd know that its getting pretty realistic and its only getting better...of course its not perfect, but do we have a choice? last time i checked theres only ONE company and maybe 2 or 3 arcades if your lucky in your area. if this is the only way we can get our fix, theres nothing wrong with that at all. this can even get people into pinball too

can you still access your files on your PC? If you cannot, you can plug your hard drive into another pc and haul your pinball files so you can reinstall fresh on another computer.

I'm not electronically inclined, The maker of the pin said he would fix everything he has the file of all of my tables and add a front door access panel/coin door if I shipped it back to him, then he ships it back to me, I'd have to have it in writing and under Paypal protection. Ty for writing back to me.
